I hail from West Bengal, a state in the eastern part of India. Calcutta is my native place. We have our own house in Bidhannagar area, popularly known as Salt Lake City at the northern end of Calcutta.

We are five in our family. My father is a senior government official in the Indian Police Service, presently posted as the Joint Commissioner of Police, Calcutta. The backbone of our family is my mother who keeps herself busy in the household. My wife is doing her Ph.D in organic chemistry. My brother is about to complete his engineering studies in Electonics & Telecommunications and yet to settle for a regular nine-to-five job.

Because of my father’s transferable job, we stayed in different places of West Bengal. Reasonably, to avoid frequent changing of school, I was sent to a residential institution. I really admire my parents’ decision, because I cannot think of a better childhood than what I had in Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia. Here, the ancient “gurukul” ideas associated with the scientific teaching procedure of modern era manifest a sky-high academic excellence.
