Laurie Dickson attempt to record motion picture photos onto
a wax cylinder.

- Dickson shoots numerous 15 second motion pictures
using Edison'skinetograph, his motion picture camera.

- First public demonstation of motion
pictures displayed in France.

- Development of the cathode ray tube

- Sony markets the first Betamax VCR

- JVC introduces the VHS format
