Constitution
PORTOBELLO THISTLE
YOUTH CLUB CONSTITUTION
Objects
The objects of the Club are to
promote the benefit of young people in Portobello and its environs by
associating the local and statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and
inhabitants thereof in a common effort to advance education and to provide, or
to assist in the provision of, facilities, including sporting facilities, in the
interests of social welfare, for recreation and other leisure-time occupation
with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said young people and
developing their physical, mental and spiritual capacities so that they may grow
to full maturity as individuals and members of society. Membership
Membership shall be open to
young people resident in Portobello and its environs. Management Committee
The Management Committee shall be responsible for:
1)
co-ordinating
and managing the day to day affairs of the club 2)
appointing
the allocation of duties and financial resources 3)
managing
the financial affairs of the club in line with constitutional and legal
requirements 4)
carrying
out it’s constitutional objects The Management Committee shall
consist of at least, Chairman, Vice-Chairman.Secretary and Treasurer Members of the Management Committee shall be
elected annually at the Annual General Meeting The Management Committee shall have the power to co-opt other members as required A quorum of at least four people will be required to
attend a general meeting before any business can be carried out General
Meetings
There shall be an Annual General Meeting of the club at which an Annual
Report, Financial Accounts shall be presented for approval and election of the Management
Committee shall take place
General meetings may be convened at any time by the Management Committee Accounts
The
Management Committee shall keep a record of the financial transactions of the
club.
The Annual Accounts shall be inspected by an independent person who has
financial expertise who shall verify that they provide a satisfactory
explanation of all the financial transactions concerned.
The financial year of the club shall run from 31 March.
Annual accounts as verified shall be presented to the AGM for approval.
All funds secured for the club shall only be used in the promotion of its
stated objects and for no other purpose.
All funds shall be held in account(s) in the clubs name
Any group wishing to leave the club for whatever reason must agree with
the committee as to the disposition of their assets, prior to leaving Constitution
The constitution shall only be altered by resolution passed by a majority
of members at a general meeting
No alteration shall be made to the constitution that would cause the club
to lose its charitable status
Dissolution
In the event of the Committee seeking dissolution of the club it shall
call a General Meeting whereby a majority of those present must support the said
resolution.
Thereafter, after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities, any
remaining assets shall be given to such other charitable organisations with
objects similar to those of the club. |
