"I think you ought to know, dear brothers, about the hard time we went through in Asia. We were really crushed and overwhelmed, and feared we would never live through it. We felt we were doomed to die and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God,who alone could save us, for He can even raise the dead. And He did help us, and saved us from a terrible death; yes, and we expect him to do it again and again." |
Every Vietnam Veteran knows what a 'pointman' is, but, for the benefit of the reader who does not know here is a quick explanation. It is a United States military term used during an army patrol, or infantry operation, for the 'point man' (in the Australian Army the term 'forward scout' is used) who walks several meters out in front of everyone else. His purpose is to serve as the eyes and ears for the unit following him through suspected enemy territory. He seeks out likely enemy ambush sites, booby traps and anything else that would endanger or entrap his trailing companions. Therefore, Point Man is designed to do the same today for all Veterans through the healing power of the Holy Spirit, the inerrant Word of God and the cleansing blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. |
