By the River

Hot is the sun;
Glistening is the water;
Idle is the sand
Upon the banks of the river.

Firm stand the trees;
Leaves merrily flutter;
When the breeze passes by
They clasp and kiss together.

Birds on the branches
Gather, sit and mutter;
Do they plan to migrate
To a spot that is better?

To breathe fresh air,
I walk to the river;
Soon I would be back
To be cheery and happier.

Spring

Leaves green
Are hardly seen,
When buds and blossoms
Mark the scene.

Trees everywhere,
Big and small,
Are clad gaudily
To fascinate all.

Each tree is
Like a bride
Who doesn’t blush,
But looks with pride.

Birds and butterflies,
Scattered in air,
Are living jewels
God made with care.

A Futile Search

With the passing breeze,
My soul moves
In search of God
Among the groves.

I search for Him
In the rolling surges
Of the vast sea,
But He never emerges.

Hopefully I
Gaze at the sky
To find Him there,
But I finally sigh.

Then I look for Him
In my heart’s corner,
And there He is,
Laughing at the searcher.

Divinity

There is one thing,
Behind every trembling leaf
On the tree,
Gracefully moving breeze,
Murmuring brook,
Delightfully swaying palm
And majestically moving
Cloud in the sky—
The Divinity,
Holy and palpable,
Let loose by God.

My Plight

All my
Pent-up
Energies and
Feelings
Melt in your presence;
Yet I
Welcome you,
For I know
That
Loss is
Better than
Loneliness.

A Spring of Hope

I dug
Deep
Into the
Soil of
Prayer
When came
Gushing
A spring
Of
Hope.
