He greatly admires Professor Oak, Pallet Town's Pokemon expert researcher.  Tracey is a Pokemon watcher, which means he observes and records Pokemon behavior. His family background is unknown, as the show never told any hints to his past. He met Ash and Misty on Tangelo Island, and helped them save an injured Lapras.     Tracey traveled with Ash and Misty through the Orange League and the return to Pallet, but decided to stay with Professor Oak and work as his assisstant. Tracey is quite patient and barely ever yells at anyone. He knows much more about Pokemon than either Misty or Ash.
