Review: Deadweight
By Samuel Gibson

“We make a step in a new direction”, a simple idea from their song, ‘Ignorance’. San Fransisco based band, Deadwieght, a different kind of rock. Electric violinist and vocalist, Ben Barnes is a fantastic performer. He sings and plays the violin so fast and with extreme presicion. Cellist Sam Bass has a look on his face of concentration which creates a perfect balance of rythym and melody complimenting the intense sound of drummer Paulo Baldi, one of the best drummers we've seen. Paulo maintains the beat and flow of the songs with back up vocals in complete unison with Ben. These guys can play so fast that it's hard to keep up with them and understand, "how the Hell did they pull that one off?" On the opposite end, they played a very beautiful, calm instrumental piece that was unbelievable and mind-soothing. Deadweight are not limited in their style and are very much eclectic music making them one of the most fantastic talents around. We have received interesting takes from new fans that are now listening to Deadweight. NEW Fan Reports:"Three instruments Cello, Fiddle, and Drums.. I can't believe the sound that came from those three guys it was amazing, a true music lovers band...a combination of these three instruments together to make a sound that rocks. I have to say if you have the chance go see them or a minimum get one of their albums it's worth the purchase." -Chris Sharp. "I had never heard of the band before last night, and I now feel as though I had missed out on one of music's most interesting and creative groups. I was absolutely certain that I had heard a band with the potential to change rock music as we know it…if you love music and new ideas, you must hear Deadweight. It will change the way you think about rock, and will definitely make you want more." Don Tomlinson.
