APSA Viewers Choice Best Film - from Superstarstruck
Himala, the first film produced by the government film body Experimental Cinema of the Philippines (ECP) won nine of 11 awards given at the 1982 Metro Manila Filmfest. It breaks trends in local filmmaking by featuring only one known actress in the cast with support from unknown television and legit stage performers.

It won for Nora Aunor Best Actress at the Metro Manila film fest and missed the Best Actress award at the Berlin Film Fest by only one vote.

At the local awards derby, Nora's outstanding performance was largely ignored, giving her arch- rival Vilma Santos the grand slam win that year for her movie Relasyon.

Joel David, a local film critic, recognizes Nora's performance as the performance of the period. See link below for the related article.
