Welcome to my page on cooperative learning in the Modern Language class and thank you for visiting. There are many activities here for you to enjoy.

All of the small group cooperative materials are yours to use freely in your language class - I believe in sharing with others what it has been my good fortune to learn. Please enjoy! It took a little while to create these materials and behind the words and the thoughts you see on your screen is the person who placed them there. I would love to hear back from you either through the guest book or by you dropping me a line when you have the time.

My name is Pete Jones and I used to teach French at Anderson Collegiate in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. Whitby is about 30 miles east of Toronto.

In June 2002, I retired after having taught French for almost thirty years. I had the opportunity over the past several years to play with cooperative learning. The links below will provide you access to materials I have either developed or learned about to get this instructional strategy up and running in the Modern Language class.

Each of the titles below has a brief explanation of the activity.

You can view the pages and print them out. Some will give you instant lesson plans for your next day's class. If you do not wish to return to this page, the pages which you link to will contain links to move you around!

I hope that you will find the materials useful for creating a student-centred class.


PHRASES MAGIQUES

Phrases Magiques is a cooperative reading and writing activity which reinforces the vocabulary and some grammar points of new units. You will have to adapt it to your particular text book.

Zaubers�tze is the German version of a cooperative reading and writing activity which reinforces the vocabulary of new units. Again, you will have to adapt it to your particular text book.

CINQ AMIS

Les Cinq Amis A very challenging reading comprehension activity. Again you will have to adapt to your text.

MON AMI IMAGINAIRE

Mon Ami Imaginaire A great classbuilding activity which takes little preparation to set up.

FLIP IT!

Flip It! A neat way to increase student-student interaction and talk time in the French class.

SIGHT PASSAGES

One of my favourite characters! If you are teaching this book, click on Le Petit Nicolas for a series of questions based on all nineteen chapters which you can print out and use in your class.
