Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon - L. Neil Smith

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

The Story:

Lando and his tentacled droid, Vuffi Raa, are off to gamble in the Oseon asteroid belt. But someone is out to get Lando. When he gets arrested by the Oseon police for a mere act of self defense, the punishment is execution. Lando is offered a deal in which his life will be spared, but he may be in for more than he bargained for.

Review:

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I did the last one. But it still suffered from many of the same problems as the first book: Lando was still annoyingly cheap and he still constantly told Vuffi Raa not to call him "Master". However, it had a better story and was not quite as corny (but don't get me wrong; it was still corny). Really, an Imperial agent who bears a striking resemblane to a certain feathered Sesame Street character; that's just going a little too far, in my opinion. It also bothered me that they never used the term "hyperdrive". It was always the "faster-than-light drive" or somthing to that effect. I never could quite figure out why.

To close, I'll leave you with a passage from the book. I'll let you draw your own conclusions:
"Outside, a braid of raspberry red, lemon yellow, and orange orange twisted through the heavens, across a constellation locals called the Silly Rabbit."
