The Antonio Palmisano Family

My Grandfather, Antonio Palmisano, came to America on the SS ARCHIMEDE which docked at the New York Harbor, at Castle Gardens, on 3 April 1885.
He was born in Termine Imerese, PA, Sicily, Italy, on the 21 August 1862.
He died on 22 October 1936.
He was married to Maria Pusateri on 15 August 1884.

Maria arrived in the USA on 25 October 1886 on the SS INDIPENDENTE.

The manifest lists his destination as Cincinatti, Ohio. He was there from 1885 until 1888.

I have taken where the children were born, and traced where thay were on those dates.

A little bit about myself. I am William "Pete" Palmisano, the son of Frank Palmisano and Elsie Schoby. There were three children born;
  • Anthony Francis (Tony); who died in 2001.
  • Joseph George (Joe), who died in 1990.
  • William Pete (Pete).
I was born in Frankfort, Indiana, on 10 April 1923. I am 81 years old.
I am married to Joyce Ethel Schleicher and we have six children.

  • Toni, 10 November 1950;
  • Joy Lynn, 2 February 1953, who died when she was six years old;
  • Frank, 20 March 1955;
  • Mary, 1 December 1956;
  • Susan, 10 January 1959,
  • Michael, 17 July 1963.
I lived in St. Louis, Missouri, until 1940 when I joined the Air Corps for the duration of the war.
When the war was over I decided to stay in the Air Force and I retired in 1964.
I was Stationed at the 2nd Air Force Headquarters, Barksdale AFB, Shreveport, La.
We moved to Phoenix, Arizona and I went to work for the Lockheed Aircraft Company,
at Luke Air Force Base, in the F-104 Program, for 20 years. I am now retired.

I have a helper who is doing much of the work in the Genealogy field. She is a Grandaughter to Marie, who is still living, and she is 101 years old. She is the only surving daughter of Antone and Maria.

Her name is Laurie Martin, and through her work we have gotten this far.

We have celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1999.

  • Maria, born on 4 May 1860.
  • Antone, born on 21 August 1862.

His Grandfather was Guiseppe Palmisano. His Grandmother was Marina Longo.

  • Antonio, born on 30 August 1826.
      • He married Fracesca Raimondi on 30 December 1856.
  • Rosalia Antinio, born on 6 March 1851, d. 7 years later
  • Rosalia, born on 3 July 1854, d. 10 months later.
  • Giovaini, born on 19 July 1833, d. 8 months later.

We are waiting from an answer to our letter to Termine Imerese about the status about Giuseppe and Marina, and about their Family.

Antone and Maria Palmisano

He bought a home at 1511 Broadway. Next door He built a confectionery store.
He applied for citenship on 15 October 1900.
On 21 October it was awarded.
He retired from business on 1934.

Antone lived until 22 Ocotber 1936, He was 74 years old.
He was living with Marie Palmisano Pond in Rantoul, Illinois.

Maria died on 7 August 1950, She was 82 years old.
She was living with Jesse Palmisano Power, in Springfield, Illinois.
