MIND
OVER MURDER
(FG-103)
Original
Air Date: 25 Apr 99
Peter punches out a pregnant woman and is under house arrest. He builds a bar in the basement so that his friends will hang out with him, but it turns into a singing venue for Lois. Stewie builds a time machine to move time forward and alleviate his teething pain, but ends up making time go backwards instead to erase the fact that his blueprints for the device were seen by the entire bar.
At the Beginning there is a Mentos parody about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth.
Lois has a daydream where she is playing piano at the Hollywood Bowl.
Stewie references the Louise Woodward case (she was the British au pair accused of murdering a baby by shaking it).
Stewie
decides to make a time machine like in the book The Time Machine (1895)
by H.G. Wells.
Peter
enjoys a Pawtucket Patriot, which seems very much like Samuel Adams beer.
When
Peter looks for the missing sock in the dryer he ends up in Narnia like in the
book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950) by C.S. Lewis.
Lois
student is asked to play Johannes Brahms’ Lullaby.
Peter
talks about having been to Wimbledon.
There
was a parody called Homicide: Life on Sesame Street which turned out to be a
parody of three shows: Homicide: Life on the Street (1993-1999), Sesame
Street (1969-Present) and NYPD Blue (1993-Present).
When
Peter falls and sees the Pawtucket Patriot it is reminiscent of Field of
Dreams (1989).
There
was a Tim Allen reference and a Home Improvement (1991-1999) style
fade-out.
While
at the bar Stewie references quantum theory of time travel like in Quantum
Leap (1989-1993).
The
barfly hands Stewie a Barney (from Barney and Friends (1992-Present))
pen.
Peter
confuses Leslie Uggams for Lola Falana.
A
man in the bar mentions the flux capacitor when looking at Stewie’s time
machine plans. The flux capacitor was what made time travel possible in Back
to the Future (1985).
