The Gaylads

A.k.a. The Gaylords. Formed when the duo Winston & Bibby (Delano Stewart & B. B. Seaton) joined with Maurice Roberts (b. July 2, 1945, Kingston) in 1963. Recorded for Studio One and released two albums The Soul Beat and Sunshine Is Golden. After leaving Studio One in 1967 they recorded for Sonia Pottinger. In late 1968 Stewart left the group and Seaton and Roberts continued as a duo working for various producers, e.g. Lee Perry and Derrick Harriott. At the end of 1969 they were signed by Leslie Kong and released their third album Fire And Rain (1970). During this period ex-Paragon Howard Barrett either Ricky Grant took the place of Stewart. Seaton left the group in 1971, Roberts continued together with the brothers Randell and Hopeton Thaxter as The Gayladds. After the album Understanding (1979) the group was later renamed The Psalms.
