Our Guide to Newsies
For all the morons who went to this page without a clue.

Newsies is a movie about the New York newsboys strike of 1899. It's a musical with good songs and dancing, and there are twenty featured newsies who contribute to the strike:

Jack Kelly: He's seventeen, and the main character. He dreams of going to Santa Fe, even though he's got tons of friends among the newsies who practically worship him. He's not the favorite newsie of any of us, but he's got fans. He is the strike leader, after all.

David Jacobs: David "Davey" is the new guy, somewhat of a wuss, who is only working because his father is injured and can't work. He's an educated smarty-pants, and he tells Jack what to say.

Les Jacobs: He's David's nine-year-old brother whom most people think is a little cutie. He really looks up to Jack and David.

Racetrack Higgins: Racetrack is a vertically challenged gambler, cigar-smoking funny guy. A lot of people like Race, because he's got a great sense of humor. However, Major here thinks he's kind of mean. (Due to the remark when Jack becomes a scab: "Seize the day, huh, Jack?") Race is Shaky's favorite.

Mush Myers: Major's favorite, Mush is a real sweetheart. However, he gets picked on a lot because he's so shy and self-conscious. It's physically impossible not to like Mush. He's the nicest newsie in Manhattan. And probably everywhere else.

Kid Blink: Penny's favorite Kid Blink wears an eye patch over his left eye. He's a real good guy, and laughs a lot. He and Race and Mush are best friends.

Crutchy: Crutchy is a cripple with a crutch. He is ever the optimist, and a good buddy of Jack's. He's willing to sacrafice a lot for his friends.

Boots Arvis: Boots is the cute little newsie who plays with words and hates blood. He often speaks for other kids.

Spot Conlon: The leader of the Brooklyn newsies, Spot is someone you don't want to upset. He carries a gold-and-black walking stick and has 100% accuracy with a slingshot.

Snitch: Snitch is an unsanitary little twerp who climbs into other people's beds during the night. This is why we like Snipeshooter better.

Jake: Since Jake has no speaking lines, it may be hard to describe him. He wears a really cool hat and has a HUGE nose. He usually carries a stick.

Itey: Pixie's loverboy, Itey is a spiffy dancer and can usually be seen in the background playing with his suspenders.

Snipeshooter: Snipeshooter is a cool little kid. He steals cigars... but wants some of his own, harharhar. ("Havana cigahs dat cost a qua-tah....")

Specs: Specs is, of course, named because he wears glasses. He also wears an annoying hat and dances kind of weird.

Dutchy: Dutchy also wears glasses. He has blond hair, and can be seen carrying a hot dog on a fork... just kidding. Seriously, though, we saw a guy in church once who looked EXACTLY like Dutchy.

Snoddy: Snoddy is officially unspiffy because he keeps trying to steal Mush's hat.

Skittery: Mr. Negative Attitude. Skittery complains constantly, and also carries a stick, which he is believed to hit people with if they don't buy papers from him.

Bumlets: Bumlets rules the world. Not really, of course, but he's still really cool. He's the guy who swings on the ceiling fan at the end of KONY.

Pie Eater: Pie Eater shouts a lot. You can see him totally whooping it up at the beginning of CTB.

Swifty: Swifty is another of those spiffy dancers, but he's the coolest one. He's awesome! He's one of the guys who does the splits in mid-air in STD.
