Peninsula Good Sams

our purpose

We are a family oriented camping chapter chartered under the International Good Sam Recreational Vehicle Club and our local state affiliation, the Virginia Good Sam Organization. We are located on the Virginia Peninsula which is north of Norfolk, VA. We were formed to foster the Spirit of Good Sam as stated in the Good Sam Pledge: to promote safety, courtesy, and fellowship and to provide enjoyment, companionship, and recreation at Chapter camp-outs and rallies.

The Chapter camps the third weekend of each month (normally March through October).  In November, we have our annual Thanksgiving dinner; in December, we have a Christmas party and do Christmas parties at local nursing and retirement homes. In January, we have our business meeting at a local restaurant.  The chapter has members that attend both the Spring and Fall Samborees sponsored by the Virginia  Good Sam organization. A monthly newsletter keeps members informed of our activities.

Our purpose as a chapter is to enjoy one another's company through our monthly camping activities and to help, in some small way, through our community service projects to make life more enjoyable and bearable for those in our community who have suffered some type of setback, due to a medical condition or some other reason.

Some of the activities that we enjoy on our monthly camp-outs are: covered dish dinners, breakfast together (the men normally do the cooking), tours, games, campfires, fellowship, and dining out at a local restaurant.  A business meeting is held at each camp-out.
