On August 11 2006 in San Diego California, Imagination Entertainment introduced Songs of the Cinema,
in a premiere presentation for a corporate event for 4,000 guests at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The show captures the most memorable moments from the best movies of all time in this explosive stage
production. The magic of this production lies in both its content and its artistry. Who doesn’t remember
the first time they saw the classics like Titanic or The Wizard of Oz? The very best films somehow leave
you just slightly changed and the movies become a part of you forever, along with the music that made
them unforgettable. This blockbuster theatrical event takes the audience back through time to revisit these
favorites. But audiences should not expect just another song and dance revue. Spectacular scenes are
created onstage through special effects, acrobatics, and many elements of surprise. Nia Peeples, best
known for her roles in Fame and Walker Texas Ranger, plays a featured role with the Broadway-credited
cast. The show opens in a historical black and white vignette, as the characters from the silent film era are
introduced. The stage morphs into a vivid Technicolor scene that takes the audience over the rainbow,
and into a world of Pure Imagination. Here, the journey begins through time as the show travels down the
yellow brick road of movie history, with stops along the way to experience the most beloved films of all
time. The cast size can range from 8 to 50 performers and although written as a stand-alone 90 minute
theatrical performance, Songs of the Cinema can be masterfully integrated into other formats, including
much shorter versions that are performed in theatrical vignettes for a corporate awards gala or a special
event. Sam Trego, Imagination Entertainment’s President and Executive Producer, said This show was on
the drawing board for two years, after the American Film Institute (AFI) produced a program honoring the
top 100 Films from 100 Years. This HAD to find it’s way into corporate entertainment programs, as it ties
in so beautifully with the ultimate awards program the Academy Awards. The idea of tying in a corporate
awards program with an Academy Awards theme is nothing new in fact it’s a favorite of the industry. Now
the special events industry has a theatrical production that catapults this theme to an entirely new level.
