St. Luke's Anniversary Prayer
written by:  Ruby Petten

Glory to Thee most mighty God,
Who entered in the hearts of man
A vision of a house of Prayer
Wisdom to see and strength to plan
A church where glory, praise and prayers
Would echo for so many years.

How often to the font we turned.
And watches as Thy baptismal grace,
Unto our children was outpoured
Race after each succeeding race,
As in this church Thy praise and prayers
Would echo for so many years.

And then in confirmation we
Our vows and promises renew,

Strengthened and guided by Thy love
To do what Thou wouldst have us do,
This church has heard our hopes and cares
And blessed us for so many years.

We at thine altar neath the cross
Partake of Thy communion sweet,
As side by side in Christian love
We bow beneath thy mercy seat,
And with the saints of bygone years
We offer too our praise and prayers.

So we would thank Thee that this church
And Thy amazing power to save,
Has guided us and led us on
Our way from cradle to the grave.
May we where once our fathers trod
Rejoice and praise Thy name, O God.

Thanks be thee most holy Lord,
For things to come as in the past
For countless children yet unborn
Continued blessing we would ask;
Who in this church their voices raise
With one accord their prayers and praise.
