What IS Pilipino Cultural Night?
Pilipino Cultural Night (PCN) is a student-run event that is open to the community to celebrate the Filipino-American Experience. The event showcases the cultural dances and the performance of traditional songs from the Philippines, as well as elements of the Filipino-American culture. A skit, that exhibits the trials and tribulations of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans, runs throughout the event which binds all these aspects together. In order to make this event successful, we need the support of Skyline College community.

Quick synopsis of this year's PCN:

Teresita De La Cruz, a well-liked, Filipina college student, lives her life to the fullest: hanging out with her diverse group of friends, cherishing moments with her boyfriend Trevor, and having a great relationship with her father, Wilfredo, and adoptive mother, Sandy. However, there was always that void that could never be filled by any material thing, and this void makes her wonder, "Who is my real mother?" Known as Terry to her friends, she never knew why her father Wilfredo rejects his Filipino heritage and insists on living the "American way."

The truth spills out when her biological mother, Rosalia Agbayani, pays her a surprise visit. Rosalia will stop at nothing to develop a relationship with her long lost daughter and expose all the mistruths. A series of scandalous events and twenty-year-old lies come to life, and Terry’s heartstrings are being pulled in several directions: Should she trust her father again even after keeping secrets from her? Should she consider Rosalia her mother?

An array of characters bless the play, including Claudine, a proud Filipina who does not believe in interracial anything. Claudine’s mother Lynette, Rosalia’s protective sister who loves to show off her daughter like a trophy. Nonoy, a childhood friend of Claudine's who talks about nothing except video games and martial arts.

This play takes you into the lives of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans who are struggling with the past and trying to make the present better. Most importantly, will Terry find out her true self? Does her sketchy past affect change her life? With all these components ripping at her, something is destined to happen.
