What
do we do?
During
a typical visit of 4 days the host village organizes social, educational
and cultural activities. Examples are, visits to the Senate and The
Hotel D Vile in Paris and Badminton House
and Warwick Castle in England. Other shared
activities have included river trips, a steam train ride, pub meals and
visits to local places of interest. Social evenings are very popular
on both sides of the channel and have included barn dances with music by
our local folk group Hobgoblin and American suppers where local bands have
provided the entertainment. Anniversaries and important events are
celebrated with a formal reception and meal.
Members
meet monthly over a glass of wine to discuss future events, both fund
raising and social. Recent events have included safari suppers,
rambles, picnics, tenpin bowling, skittles, cheese and wine evenings and
quizzes. In addition, the association organises a Christmas meal for
all its members. As an association we aim to contribute to the life
of the village and have done this by supporting Revel and other village
events.
Since
the first tentative visit in 1987 many firm and long-standing friendships
have been formed. Once there has been a reciprocal family visit a
new family is hosted the following year. As a result many long
standing friendships have been made and private visits
arranged.
New
members are always welcome. If you are interested in joining our
enthusiastic and successful association please contact our membership
secretary. It is not necessary to speak French in order to
participate in and enjoy the twinning experience!!
