From The Soul of the Universe, 1940 by Gustaf Strömberg

Recently some new evidence has been uncovered which makes it almost necessary for us to regard mental phenomena as transcending physical space. The investigations by Rhine and his associates at Duke University have shown the reality1 of the phenomena of telepathy (transfer of thoughts and mental pictures) and clairvoyance (seeing at a distance without use of the eyes). Most people appear to have a rudimentary sense in this direction, others have it somewhat more developed, and the higher degrees of development or activation appear to be hereditary. According to Rhine the faculties can be measured with high precision (etc). It makes not difference whether the distance to the "observed" object is 10 feet or 250 miles. Obstructions have no effect, neither has the position of the objects in relation to the "observer."

1 After this was written, several psychologists have expressed doubts about the validity of Rhine's conclusions. Even if it ultimately should be shown that hiss results are not conclusive and that telepathy and clairvoyance are not normal phenomena, there is a very great number of perfectly well established definite cases for which no other explanation seems possible. To ignore such evidence is deliberately to overlook a most important clue to the nature of mental phenomena in general.

From The Integration of Human Knowledge, 1958 by Oliver Leslie Reiser

The writing of this book has taken about ten years. During these years I have had the benefit of comments from numerous friends and critics. My greatest debt is to Mr. B. G. H. Vanderjagt, who has helped me work out the pantheistic philosophy here set forth. Beyond that, my thanks are due Dr. Albert Einstein for his encouragement in this effort at developing a form of pantheism which, as he put it, "is very near my own." I am grateful for helpful comments and criticisms from John Dewey, Harlow Shapley, Alfred Korzybski, J. R. Kirk, J. B. Rhine, Stuart Carter Dodd, F. L. Kunz, T. Weiner, Julius Stulman, Joseph Bunzel, Mario Lins, C. K. Bliss, George P. Conger, C. Judson Herrick, [etc., etc.]
