Sahota Palace, 668 Old Liverpool Rd., Liverpool, 413-0016. Very nicely spiced dishes,including mild for those who prefer tasty but not hot.

“AMERICAN”

The Bagel Shop Bakery and Deli, across from the Galleries, 413 S. Warren St.in downtown Syracuse, 474-3316. Melissa says this cafeteria-style eatery offers a variety of delectable vegetarian and vegan lunch items - sandwiches, soups and salads. Soy products abound, including Tofurkey and Phoney Baloney sandwiches on whey-free whole wheat bread with Soy mayonnaise. Ask for soy milk for your regular or flavored coffee. Open 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

Ruby Tuesdays, Carousel Center, 466-1705 and 3220 Erie Blvd. E., Dewitt, 446-4116 and 4081 Rt. 31, Clay, 622-4526. Impressive salad bar. Also veggie burger and portabello mushroom sandwiches.

TGI Fridays, Shoppingtown Mall, Eire Blvd. E., Dewitt, 449-3300. Veggie burger sandwich. Grilled veggie and pasta entree with salad. The entree is especially delicious! Casual and family-oriented.

Scotch ‘n’ Sirloin, next to Shoppingtown Mall, Erie Blvd., E., Dewitt, 446-1771. An unfortunate name, but you can get a delicious salad bar (plump, marinated mushrooms; artichokes; hearty bread, etc.)and charcoal-flavored veggies on a skewer.

Tully’s Good Times, 2943 Erie Blvd. E., Dewitt, 449-9339; 3355 W. Genesee St., Fairmount, 488-9322; and 7838 Brewerton Rd., Cicero, 452-5656. Veggie burger and portabello mushroom sandwich. John says good place to meet hockey players.

Arad Evans Inn, 7206 e. Genesee St., Fayetteville,637-2020. “Historic country farmhouse” looks attractive. Jason says they’ll make delicious vegan entree upon request,for example, Portabello mushrooms and veggies for $10 - $15. Better to call ahead for vegetarian and vegan dishes.

ITALIAN

Tassone’s, 8113 Dexter Pkwy., Baldwinsville, 635-5133. Linda had a yummy artichoke and pasta dish with marinara sauce instead of cream sauce.

Angotti’s, 725 Burnet Ave., Syracuse, 472-8403. Jane especially likes their beans and greens.

Dominick’s, 1370 Burnet Ave., Syracuse, 471-4262. Don’s favorite is angel hair pasta primavera (which still tastes good if you ask them to leave out the cheese).

Olive Garden, 3147 Erie Blvd., E., Dewitt, 449-1543 and 4125 Rt. 31, Clay, 652-1950. Richard especially likes the angel hair pasta with oil and veggies. Linda loves the ravioli stuffed with mush- rooms and covered with marinara sauce instead of cream sauce. And the yummy minestrone soup has no chicken or beef broth.

Pasquale’s Slice of Italy, 511 E. Genesee Street, Fayetteville 13066, 637-3212. Good vegan pizza.

Pasquale’s Slice of Italy II, 8075 Oswego Rd., Liverpool, 652-5600. Ditto.

DiBello’s Pizza and Family Restaurant, 4647 Onondaga Blvd., Syracuse, 475-7992. Roast veggies with pasta and marinara sauce. Veggie pizza with great, crisp crust.

CHINESE

China Pavilion, Westvale Plaza, 2318 W.Genesee St. (near Solvay), 488-2828. Will customize order for vegans. Some good bets are eggplant or broccoli with garlic sauce, vegetable lo mein, sauteed string beans, and Buddhist Delight. Appetizers include scallion pancakes and steamed dumplings. Tofu can be made soft or crispy.

Oriental Star Chinese/Japanese Restaurant, 210 W. Genesee St., Fayetteville, 637-0505. Vegan sushi and other dishes.

China Road, 2204 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, 455-5888 (across from Hollywood Theatre). Lots of tasty fake “meats”.

THAI

Erawan, 2724 Erie blvd. E., Syracuse, 445-8152. Delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes with peanut sauce or other exotic sauces.

Little Thai House, 2863 Erie Blvd. E., Syracuse, 251-1366. Another tasty place, where dishes are prepared somewhat differently from Erawan. Servers are very friendly and attentive. Will customize dishes, even soups, for vegans. John loves this place.

Lemon Grass, 238 Jefferson St., Armory Square, downtown Syracuse, 475-1111. Gourmet vegetarian and vegan entrees but expensive.

Thai Bangkok, 7421 Oswego Rd., Liverpool, 451-4621.

MEXICAN, TEX-MEX AND HISPANIC

Alto Cinco, 526 Westcott St., Syracuse, 422-6399. Pat is a big fan of these nicely spiced dishes. Take-out or small counter or sit-in restaurant.

Fresno’s, 4002 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, 468-5000 and Rt. 11, corner of E. Taft Rd., N.Syracuse , 458-8152. Fajitas stuffed with veggies al dente.

Las Delicias, 550 Westcott St., Syracuse, 422-0208. Upon request, the owner/chef made us yellow rice with peas and steamed veggies with fresh cilantro and red (not hot) sauce. You can also get a large salad with avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, green beans, corn and French bread. There are a few other vegetarian or vegan dishes too.

Juanita’s Mexican Kitachen, 600 Court St., Syracuse, 478-2185. Sean likes the vegan burrito and guacamole.

MIDDLE EASTERN

Aladdin’s, 163 Marshall St., Syracuse U. area, 471-4000. Tasty vegetarian soups and a variety of Middle Eastern and other dishes.
