_____________ _____________ HOW DOES THE PALO ALTO SLAM FUNCTION? Poets sign up to perform starting at 7:15pm. The list closes at 8:00pm or when 12 poets have signed up. The name of the poets will be randomized to determine the order of performance. Five judges are picked at random from the audience and through a scoring system determine the winners of the slam. The Palo Alto Slam gives cash or gift prizes for the poets who arrive in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Prizes vary from event to event.
