Welcome!!

A paloano is a native of, a resident or former resident of Palo, a small town 7.5 miles (12 kms.) south of Tacloban City, provincial capital of Leyte, Philippines.

Our organization was created to establish the following basic goals and objectives:
  • To establish bond and fellowship among Paloanos and respective families residing but not limited to the U.S. East Coast.
  • To recognize and keep alive our cultural heritage and traditional values and to assure the continued celebration of our annual town fiesta, here in the U.S. East Coast.
  • To support and assist the development of the Municipality of Palo.

How it all began

Initially, a small group of Paloano families and friends decided to hold a gathering on August 29, 1993 at the residence of Ms. Concorcia D. Gardiola in Newark, New Jersey. This assembly gave birth to the creation of our organization. Since then, an annual gathering is held on the month of August to observe and celebrate Palo's own Annual Fiesta celebration in honor of the feast of the "Transfiguration" of our Lord. A fiesta sponsor, a volunteer, as has been so far, presides over and hosts the festivities at his/her state of residence.
