THE PALI STUDY GROUP

ABOUT THE GROUP

The Pali Study Group is an email discussion forum for those interested in the study and discussion of Pali (Pāḷi), a Middle Indo-Aryan language used in the Theravāda Buddhist scriptures of Sri Lanka and South-East Asia.

The group was started on February 2, 2001 by Jim Anderson, a 61 year old Canadian, and is hosted by Yahoo!Groups at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/palistudy/. It is closed and unlisted which means that non-members cannot access the group's homepage or self-subscribe and so this alternative website was set up on October 6, 2002 to serve as a means for the general public to learn about the group and to be able to access the archived messages.

This is a small group consisting of about 45 members.

Anyone interested in the Pali language, its literature, and related topics is welcome to become a member. To join or find out more please contact Jim Anderson.
