Report: Ninth Annual Pakistan Day on Capitol Hill

Ninth annual Pakistan Day on Capitol Hill was held on June 27th ,2001 in Washington DC. Thirty-five lawmakers and/or their staffers attended the session to show their support for the Pakistani American community and strengthen US-Pakistan friendship. (complete report available)

Pakistani American Congress honored in PCC-USA annual Banquet in Houston

Houston(May 23rd - 2001): Pakistani American Congress was honored in the annual banquet arranged by Pakistan Chamber of Commerce - USA. The program was attended by numerous local dignitaries, including the mayor of Houston, Lee P. Brown. PCC-USA gave M.A. Jinnah leadership awards to the Pakistani American activists who were invited to attend the banquet from different parts of the country. Prominenet amongst them were Dr. Riaz Ahmad from Michigan, Dr. Nisar Chaudhry from Maryland, Dr. Murtaza Arain from Illinois and Mr. Rashid Chaudhry from Washington DC. All of them were awarded M. A. Jinnah leadership award for their outstanding services to the Pakistani American community.

Draft Proposal: Establishing Pakistani American Political Clubs

Over the years, Pakistani Americans have favored one political party over an other, but considering the recent American political setup of a hung Congress we must be able to exercise influence equally on both sides of the political divide.

Therefore, in order to establish a strong political foundation for the community by streamlining the activities of Pakistani American Democrats/Republicans on state and national level and to integrate the Pakistani American political activists with the main stream political establishment in the United States, two new institutions are proposed:

i) Pakistani American Democratic Club (PADC)

ii) Pakistani American Republican Club (PARC)

The main advantage of these clubs is to add a stronger punch to the existing efforts of the Pakistani American Political activists. (complete draft)
