To Those That Serve Young Adults

As young adults prepare to enter today's society, many find there are obstacles impeding their path to success. Education and training costs, job searching dilemmas, or even family and personal problems can interfere with their career development goals.
Through its vocational, educational, and social skills training programs; its excellent job placenment capabilties; its ability to provide a residential learning enviroment for those in need; and its many other benefits; Job Corps can be the answer in overcoming some of those disadvantages that many young adults face.  For example:

High School Counselors - former and current graduating students can choose from many vocational training and even college programs...at no cost.  Job Corps even has GED and diploma programs for those that did not finish high school.

Military Recruiters - those with low ASVAB scores can enroll in Job Corps first.  Our educational and vocational training programs are accredited.  A student preparing to enter the service and having been refered to Job Corps by you will be refered directly back to you as soon as the student completes their military entrance qualifications.

Career Links -  Serving the needs of younger adults can be difficult. Job Corps has years of experience and demonstrated outcomes fullfilling this purpose.

- Starting out in life is difficult enough without the hardships of being economically or socially disadvantaged. Job Corps was created to serve your clients needs if at all possible.  With training at no cost to the student, where a student can live in a safe residential enviroment if needed, where basic life and social skills are taught to help prepare those for life's challenges, Job Corps may be the opportunity for your clients best chance for success in today's complex world.

GENERAL RULES OF ELIGIBITY

* Be at least 16 and not yet 25 years old at time of enrollment (there is no upper age limit for otherwise eligible individuals with disabilties)
* Be a US citizen or national, a lawfully admitted permanent resident alien, asylee or parolee, or other alien authorized to work in the US.
* Be an individual who is
one or more of the following:
-- An individual who requires addtional; training, education, counseling or related assistance to participate in regular schoolwork or secure and hold employment.
-- A school dropout.
-- Basic skills deficient.
-- Homeless, runaway, or a foster child/parent.
* If a minor, have a signed parent/guradian consent to particpate.
* Be free of behavior problems which would prohibit yourself or others from benefiting from the program; must also be free of face to face court/institution supervision and/or court imposed fines while in
Job Corps.
* Not currently engaged in illegal drug. use.
* Have a child care plan if applicant has a dependent child.
* Show a commitment and capability to participate successfully in the program and gain benefit from it.
