WHO:
All Cub Scouts in Pack 188 ~ Each den is
responsible for one or two Saturdays this year.
WHAT: Monthly good deed program delivering “Meals on
Wheels” for the Older Person’s Center (OPC) in Rochester.
WHEN: The pack is responsible for delivery the first
Saturday of each month beginning October 5, 2002. Meet at the OPC at 11:00 AM; delivery concludes approximately at
12:00 noon.
HOW: Each den is responsible for monthly delivery (mid Saturday morning). A driver and a group of boys with another
adult helper will arrive at OPC at 11:00 AM to pick up cooler of hot; cold
meals along with a map and route for delivery.
The map will show in detail the families needing the items. Allow 45 minutes for the entire route. Cell phones are required to make any
necessary contact phone calls for the seniors.
WHY?: This event reinforces a critical Cub Scout Principal “HELP
BOYS DEVELOP HABITS AND ATTITUDES OF GOOD CITIZENSHIP; HELPING OTHERS FOR THE
COMMON GOOD.” Scout literature reminds us that Scouts does more than simply
entertain our children, or pursue achievements and badges. The emphasis is on character development. There are seniors in need right in our own
backyard.
