| There is no one way to begin an opening paragraph to an essay. Authors use several methods for opening essays. These are some: Method for Opening Essays Method 1. Ask the readers a question that will interest or irritate them. Method 2. Give a short anecdote or incident that will interest the reader. Method 3. Use a quotation that is related to the topic. Method 4. Breifly state a supporting detail that will develop the essay. Method 5. appeal to the reader's regarding the importance of the topic. Method 6. Write the propt in a statement form Method 7. Combine two or more of the above methods into one paragraph. These method are fequently used in various ways, but they are not the only means.
