1. Read Passage Carefully.
2. Number the Paragraphs.
3. Highlight the Title. (What does it mean?)
4. Highlight Sub-titles and Underlined Words. (Vocabulary)
5. Study Diagrams, Maps and Charts. (Highlight title of these)
6. Read Passage Once Again, One Paragraph at a Time and Highlight the Main Idea of each Paragraph. (Remember: main ideas are usually in the 1st sentence, last sentence, or right in the middle. If a paragraph is too short, don't worry about looking for a main idea just highlight key words.)
7. Read each test item carefully. Make sure you understand what the question is actually asking you.
8. Read all the answer selections, try to omit the incorrect ones. (usually two)
9. Go back to passage and try to look for the key words or phrases that will tie in exactly to one of the answer choices.
10. Make sure you cube in your key words and number it. Match it to your test item number.
