Miss Mizuno's Library CollectionJaxom had been sitting at the back of the bar with his friend Jesh. He was talking with Mike, a local C.D.F.* officer, about taking out a certain crime lord's base, when he saw the dark stranger approach the table. Also seeing this Mike quickly handed Jaxom a cylinder slightly bigger than a pop can and returned to his table. The stranger seated himself and studied Jaxom and Jesh. Jaxom was tall with long blonde haired just as his boss had told him Jaxom would look, but Jesh was slightly different. Jesh was shorter than Jaxom and had green hair(?) and broad shoulders.
"So, what can I do for you?" Jaxom asked the stranger as he clipped the cylinder to the belt he wore around his waist. "I have a job for you two, coming for Mr.Criton himself" He told them in a low electronic voice from under a leather mask. "From Mr.Criton?" Jesh boomed "Not so loud!" the stranger snapped. "From Mr.Criton 'eh," Jaxom thought, thinking about all the strange things he'd heard about the city's most powerful crime lord "What if we don't want to work for Mr.Criton?" "He will pay you 3000 credits,"he handed each of them 500 credits "and 500 now" "He wishes for me to escort you to his building" the stranger whispered and stood up. "Well let us go then" Jaxom rose and whispered something to Jesh. The stranger led them to a car and opened the door. "One more thing," the stranger said "Mr.Criton wants you blind folded" And with that they were blindfolded and put in the back with the stranger. The car started with ease and drove down the street. The ride was a relatively smooth one except for when they drove through an area where the police were in a gun fight with a local gang. Here the car was hit with a few wildly fired bullets , but no one in the car was hurt. As they pulled up to the building in the darkest part of town Jaxom and Jesh took off the blindfolds and looked around. The building was a huge dark building protected by many security systems and guard towers. They were led to the front door of the building where Jaxom observed that all the door was guarded by four men and women all armed to the teeth with weapons. Obviously this "Mr. Criton" didn't want any unexpected visitors. From there they were taken through a secret passage which was below the carpet on the floor. When they finally reached Mr.Criton's office they had taken three different secret passages! Mr.Criton sat in a huge chair behind a desk covered in electronics and monitors. When Mr.Criton heard the trio enter the room he spun round in the chair, revealing himself to their eyes. Jesh gasped in shock as he saw that Mr.Criton was a robot! Jaxom was shocked! His teeth were hideous spikes and his eyes were nothing but dark spheres with red dots in the middle of each. Just to intimidate Jesh more Mr.Criton raised his handed and pointed at the two mercenaries with it's giant clawed hand. "Are these the last two I called for?"Mr.Criton asked in a very computerised voice. "Yes master!" The stranger replied and pulled off his leather mask revealing that he too was a robot like Mr.Criton but smaller and a few different details. "Hurry and arm them, then brief them and send them down with the others" He said finally and turned around once again in his chair. The stranger who soon after told them his name was DD**-32 led them two a dimly lit room filled with weapons and hard suits***. Jaxom looked around in amazment and immediately grabbed two fusion pistols, a multi optics band and an armoured chest plate. Jesh on the other hand got into a heavily armoured hard suit and grabbed a "t-66 tri cannon pulse rifle". "Your mission," DD-32 explained "Is to destroy a beast called 'The Grua' that is lurking through out the sewers beneath this building. Why Mr.Criton doesn't want it there is because that is our main route to the city and how we never get caught during break-ins. We have already lost 13 good men to it. Now go!" DD-32 showed them into a small man hole and slammed it shut cutting off all light leading into the sewers. Jaxom pulled down his multi-optics band over his eyes and Jesh switched on his night vision in the hard suit. They both saw three more men down a couple meters ahead of them that were also armed to the teeth. Jaxom approached them and the biggest swivelled around. As soon as he saw Jaxom and Jesh he introduced himself and the others. "I'm Chris and these are my friends Jeff and Ultros. Ultros is a cyborg but he doesn't work for that "thing" Mr.Criton. We're also hunting 'The Grua' although we had no choice in the matter" He said in a deep gruff voice. Jaxom observed all of them closely. Chris was big and had broad shoulders and long red hair. Jeff had short green hair was about average height, and had a strange nose ring. Ultros was nothing like the robot Mr.Criton, Ultros was huge standing 7'9'' ,he had a half robotic face ,that was completely different than Mr.Criton's, and a deadly looking robotic arm. Jaxom looked them over on more time and decide to trust them. All except for Ultros, after what had happened in the building above he thought he'd never completely trust robots again. Jaxom introduced himself and Jesh and they began searching for "The Grau". The sewer that they were in was actually quite big and more like a huge pipe. The dirty water they walked in came up to about Jaxom's ankles and wasn't that pleasant to walk in. For about an hour they searched deeper and deeper in the sewer but to no prevail. Soon after they found signs that 'The Grau' was alive and well in the sewer, such as a couple of broken skulls and a few human bones. Jaxom heard a sharp snapping sound about 30 feet away and was just about to run forward and find out what it was when he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Let Jeff and I go first. We've taken care of beasts like this before." Chris whispered. "And let you get all the pay?I DON'T THINK SO!" Jaxom snapped. "Don't' worry about the 4500 more credits, we'll all get it as long as 'The Grau' is brought back dead" Chris reassured Jaxom, but he didn't look too convinced. Jaxom reluctantly let Chris and Jeff go ahead and started to lean on the wall when he heard Chris and Jeff's fusion pistols fire in at once and a loud "ROAR!". Jaxom quickly jumped back into a standing positron, drew his two fusion pistols and got into a defensive position. He then heard a scream of pain and then more firing! Ultros and Jesh ran towards the scream but Jaxom stopped his friend. "Let's wait and see how well they fair against this beast. If what Chris says is right we'll get paid either way" "WHAT THE H#$! DO YOU MEAN, JUST LET THEM DIE?" Jesh yelled over top of the fusion blasts. "Better them then us!" Jaxom said and then froze as he heard another scream of pain and agony. "You're right, maybe it would be better if we fought it as a team" Jaxom reconsidered and he and Jesh ran forward only to see Ultros' get smashed into the wall and die. "The Grau" stepped forward and eyed the two carefully. It was gigantic and had a hairy body. It's two large hands had gigantic blooded claws that were larger than Mr.Criton's. It snarled hideously through a double set of sharp teeth as Jaxom and Jesh opened fire on it. It leap forward with incredible speed and slashed at Jesh tearing through the protective armour of Jesh's hard suit knocking him backwards. Jaxom saw his chance and ran around back of "The Grau" and fired both his fusion pistols simultaneously at it's hairy spiked back. It turned around and lept at Jaxom this time! Jaxom swiftly lept backwards and continued firing, but he couldn't leave Jesh here with this thing! "JESH!" He called out as he dodged a swipe from "The Grau" "Don't worry about me," Jesh replied weakly "Just kill the thing" "The Grau" screamed in annoyance and took yet another swipe at Jaxom, this time catching him in the chest knocking him to the ground and making him drop his guns. Jaxom stumbled backwards as "The Grau" snarled and stepped forward! It crushed one of Jaxom's guns beneath it's giant clawed feet and gnashed it's teeth hungrily. Fear clutched Jaxom as he continued backwards along the sewer's ground. "The Grau" roared in hunger and moved in for the kill!! Jaxom felt backwards for his second gun and found that there was no ground a few feet away from him, the pipe must drop deeper into the ground!! He grabbed the cylinder that Mike had given him from his belt and pulled the ring from the end of it! "The Grau" roared and Jaxom three the "Thermonuclear bomb" into The Grau's mouth and whisked him self down the drop in the sewer. He only had 6 seconds left before it went off. 6s: Jaxom hit the bottom of the pipe. 5s:He recovered from the fall and started running forwards. 4s:Jaxom spotted a light far ahead in the sewer. 3s:He ran up to the metal grating to the outside world. 2s:He kicked it open 1s:Jaxom lept out of the sewer into the city. 0s:The bomb exploded destroying the sewer and Mr.Criton's building above him! Jaxom covered his head as pieces of debree came flying towards him and fire came shooting out of the broken metal grating He had lept out of. As soon as the explosion was over Jaxom stood up and looked towards the place where Mr.Criton's building used to be. Nothing was left but a smoldering crater in the ground. "YES!" he thought as a car drove up behind him "His building has been completely destroyed!I'm in the money now!" As he stepped into Mike's waiting car Jaxom thought about Jesh. He hoped Jesh somehow survived and he could get his fair share of the 1.5 million credits he was getting for this job. Mike congratulated him on the job well done. "We've been trying to find and take out his base for a while now. When one of our spies over heard a conversation about you two being hired for a job from Mr.Criton we couldn't resist trying out this plan, by the way where's Jesh?" Mike asked as they drove off. "He was trapped in the explosion with 'The Grau'. I hope he survived that some how" Jaxom stared back at the building in silenceŠŠŠ The End???
