First for long life 850 turbos, I have
just turned 300,000 Km on my 95 850 turbo and all is still original,
even the A/C system still works well. My other 850 96 turbo
with the "chip" from Thomas in Sweden is at 145,000 Km, but it has the
A/C demon. I also have a 97 S70 and 99 S80 T6. My favorite is the
chipped 850 turbo at 280 hp and it is very smooth.
If you find that you cannot align the
light regardless of how much you twist and turn the screws then probably
the reflector has disengaged from the internal fingers that hold it in
place. If so you will have to remove the outer glass lens, very carefully,
it is not glued or sealed in place other than a gasket. With the
outer lens removed take a look behind the reflector and you will see a
small single ball and socket arrangement that the reflector pivots on.
You may need to remount the reflector on the ball with a gentle push.
There are also two fingers from the two adjusting screws that are flat
and engage with plastic clips on the rear of the reflector, they have to
be gently pushed into place as well if need be.
The dangers is that you may touch
the internal face of the reflector and your finger oils will poison the
coating so don't touch. Also it is all plastic and somewhat fragile
so be gentle.
A way to see if a loose reflector is
your problem is to grasp the back end of the bulb in the unit from the
engine compartment as if you where going to change bulbs and see if you
can wiggle the lens. It should be solid, if it moves then you have to remount
the reflector. I suspect that it is possible to be to vigorous in
replacing a bulb and in fact push the reflector from its mounting during
a bulb change. Great
web site.
