I went to check my pollen filter on my 850 and there wasn't one
there?????Do I really need this filter
anyway?? Its not mentioned in the maintenance manual or chiltons
manual.
There is a place for a filter, under a black plastic panel at the
base of the winshield, right side. It`s needed to
keep debris from entering the air conditioning evaporator.I replaced
mine recently at a cost of $ 11.00.
On the older 850's, there isn't one. There is a retro-fit kit
though. Your local dealer will most likely have to
order it. It does cut down on fumes and noxious odors from getting
into the cabin. I retro-fit it to my 95 T5R.

thanks for your reply........sounds like I better get one though
I've heard they cost much more than $11
John,
There are 2 parts to the filter....one is hte holder that clips
onto the iopening of the fan/evap. the other is the
filter itself. You need both parts....should run anywhere between
30 to 40 bucks.

Yes, I have heard that adding this filter can prolong the life of some EXPENSIVE A/C components.
Probably worth $30.

I just put one on my 93 na 850. Got the parts (adapter and bracket
and filter) from Borton. Fairly easy and
straightforward. Only difficulty was getting the torx screws
out from the sensor in the old bracket.
I decided to do it after reading the posts here and thought it might prevent problems down the road.

What sensor Tom? On my 95 850 N/A, there is no sensor to remove. Just curious.
Mike
Mike, think he is referring to a temp sensor that they placed
up there prior to 94'.

I think it is a temp sensor. It was mounted on the driver's side of the old filter holder.
