Your Comment :   Thank you for this site. My 1994 850 non-turbo wagon stalled today just as it turned to 75001 miles, unable to restart, and this site has given me ideas. I'll let you know the final diagnosis when the prob is fixed.

I am manually adding a few reader feedbacks here and there from this point on. Thanks to everyone who has emailed me, you msg will make it here as I get the time!

In 2 months I brought this car in a decent order after buying it with
$7000 at 75.000 miles - a '95 855 station wagon. Your site was
instrumental in my decision to buy the car and work on it, but it's true
that I had a good experience working on my old '86 740 GLE automatic.
I appreciate your site's design, simplicity and structure. Great work!

November 2002;

Dear Micheal / OZBrick 850,
Just want to say thanks for having a website that saved me hundreds of dollars.  I have a 1994 Volvo 850 wagon non-turbo model.  I moved the car off the street and into the driveway lastnight (about 25 feet).  This morning was a cold one, about 0 degrees C or 32 degrees F.  I was to meet some friend to go mountain biking and enjoy the crisp fall air.  I went to warm the engine.  It fired and started normally for about 1 to 2 seconds then quit.  I was unable to restart the engine.  The battery seemed to have plenty of juice to crank the motor but it just would not fire.  I was really pissed off, my plans for the day seemed to be ruined.  I planned to call for a tow truck and
have the car taken to my local Volvo dealer.  After a few deep breaths I decided to first surf the net and look for a trouble shooting web page.  Yours was the first I checked.  It looked like others had posted similar problems. One stated the battery could have low voltage and was not enough for the fuel system to work.  Another stated the 850 was prone to flooding if moved just a few feet and the solutiuon was to put the pedal to the floor and crank away.  I tried the later and quickly killed the battery - A sign that the battery was old and possibly was in a low voltage state (the cold snap probably helped)  I replaced the battery with a new one and tried to restart the car as I normally do without touching the gas pedal - it still failed to start.  I then put the pedal to the floor and cranked away.  In about 15 seconds (it seemed alot longer) the motor sputtered to life.
Looks like a combination of the two problems (flooding and low voltage).  You probably saved me several hundred dollars. A tow is about $50 US and the dealer would be at least another $150 just to look under the hood.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time and effort you took to put the website together.
Thanks Again
Jeff Zelek
