Just bought an immaculate 1993 850 and it doesn't want to start
in the morning! Not real cold weather here in Florida; have fresh gas in
the tank. Battery
is strong. Any ideas? Thanks

Have you checked for spark? pop off one of the spark plug wires
and stick the end of a small wrench or something in it (BE CAREFUL NOT
TO DAMAGE
THE WIRE!!!!) Then use a THICK RUBBER COATED tool of some sort
(wire strippers, etc.) to hold the wrench about an eigth of an inch off
the block.
Have someone else crank the engine and watch the wrench. If you
dont see any or a weak spark then you might want to check your
coil/wires/alternator/etc.

Allan: Try the fuel pressure regulator. It is a small device right
below the fuel rail at about the second cylinder from the passenger side/front
of the
engine. It has a vacuum elbow connected to it. Maybe that vacuum
elbow is broken of leaking, which could cause the loss of prime in the
fuel system
overnight. Also, check the thermo-switch near the thermostat
housing (hard to see). If that switch is malfunctioning, it will negate
the appropriate signal to
the ECU which could cause hard-starting when the car is cold.
The ECU needs this signal to enrichen the mixture on cold startups. Good
luck!
