WATAIN - Go Fuck Your Jewish God [CD/1998]
WATAIN - Rabid Death's Curse [DVD40/2000] 7/10=The debut from the Swedish black metal band, ferocious and fearsome but not my favorite of their albums.
WATAIN - Casus Luciferi [CD/2003] 9/10=Superb Swedish black metal album, their second full-length and easily their best record so far, better even than the newest.
WATAIN - The Ritual Macabre [CD/2006]
WATAIN - Sworn to the Dark [CD/2007] 8/10=Swedish black metal, simplistic, reminds me quite a lot of the last two Satyricon records, which is not a bad thing at all. Very good album.

WATCHTOWER - Energetic Disassembly [CD/1986] 7/10=An impressive outing of progressive thrash metal, but I like the followup better.
WATCHTOWER - Control and Resistance [CD/1989] 9/10=This is a brilliant album, only docked a point because it doesn't stand up to time, lots of catchy prog atmospheres in the songs that make you feel you are actually there.

WINDIR - Det Gamle Riket [CD/1995] 4/10=Not so bad for a demo, they had captured much of their folkish black metal style right from the beginning.
WINDIR - Soknardalr [CD/1997] 6/10=The sound on my copy is extremely subdued, but this is a fine album of melodic folk black metal, at times I could do without the female vocals.
WINDIR - Arntor [CD/1999] 8/10=This is a large improvement over Sorknardalr, a great album of Viking metal with excellent incidental music, intros, etc, vocals sound at times like Vintersorg but at least the girl vox are more subdued.
WINDIR - 1184 [CD/2001] 8/10=Their heaviest, most driving work, rarely taking time to slow down, and arguably Windir's best, there are some great songs here like 'The Spiritlord'.
WINDIR - Likferd [CD/2003] 9/10=Take back what I said, this album is simply amazing, a fine balance of their heavier material and their atmospheric elements, a classic that should appeal to all fans of aural Viking art.
WINDIR - Valfar, Ein Windir [CDx2/2004] 5/10=A compilation/tribute to Valfar who died of hypothermia and thus the band broke up, but disc 1 has some nice unreleased material and covers of Windir by Enslaved, Finntroll, etc.

WINDS - Reflections of the I/Of Entity and Mind [CD/2001] 8/10=Great stuff, it's like neoclassical metal lite, tons of piano and tranquil metal guitar play, plus this includes their debut EP which was also quite good.
WINDS - The Imaginary Direction of Time [CD/2004] 7/10=I honestly do not like this as much as the debut, but it sure as fuck is a worthy listen. This is another Norwegian supergroup, with Hellhammer on drums among others.
WINDS - Prominence and Demise [DVD70/2007] 6/10=I love the guitar work, it's pretty sick, but the fairy vocal accompaniment was not needed and the songs don't feel quite as good as the previous albums.

WITCHCRAFT (SWE) - Witchcraft [CD/2004] 8/10=An excellent retro-70s metal album, it sounds quite like it belongs back then, instead of now. Sabbath is their base influence, but you can tell Witchcraft travel just beyond derivative to a sound almost their own.
WITCHCRAFT (SWE) - Firewood [CD/2005] 8/10=Pretty damn cool, 70s style doom metal with a Sabbath aesthetic but with slightly different vocal range, this album grows on you with each listen and has certainly entered my regular rotation.
WITCHCRAFT (SWE) - The Alchemist [CD/2007] 9/10=Fucking amazing, their best album yet, tons of 70s metal atmosphere. Killer.

WITCHERY - Restless & Dead [CD/1998] 10/10=This is such a good album, like a modernized Venom, with very exciting riffs and a great vibe of nostalgia.
WITCHERY - Witchburner [CD/1999] 6/10=A new song and some covers, done very well so it gets this above-usual score for an EP.
WITCHERY - Dead, Hot, and Ready [CD/1999] 7/10=A strong album to be sure, but not as intense as the debut.
WITCHERY - Symphony for the Devil [CD/2001] 6/10=I enjoyed the bass playing here but wasn't too thrilled by the record, but I've certainly heard a lot worse.
WITCHERY - Don't Fear the Reaper [CD/2006] 6/10=I waited awhile for this album, eager, yet it's not much of an improvement over Symphony of the Devil, often quite boring and not so many parts stand out.

WITCHFINDER GENERAL - Soviet Invasion [CD/1982] 4/10=An EP with three tunes, pretty cool because there just weren't many releases by this band.
WITCHFINDER GENERAL - Death Penalty [CD/1982] 7/10=This is the fuckin' oldschool, people. Doomy NWOBHM and I loved every set of tits on their album covers. The music is decent too if you want to light up and feel real cool.
WITCHFINDER GENERAL - Friends of Hell [CD/1983] 8/10=I find this to be the more memorable of their two albums, when they focus on what they are doing, they make a petty damn good Black Sabbath.
WITCHFINDER GENERAL - Resurrected [DVD143/2008] 7/10=So...25 years since their last album, and they return sounding largely the same. Pretty good! No nun or nurse tits on the album cover, maybe for the better. NOT.

WOLF (SWE) - Wolf [CD/2000] 7/10=A very promising start for this young Swedish metal trio playing pure heavy metal, oldschool with a very good modern production.
WOLF (SWE) - Black Wings [CD/2002] 8/10=Awww...how cute. Swedish metal teen trio plays true heavy metal with early 80s influence. Wait, what was that? Oh...they are actually pretty fucking good...REALLY good, even...a metal Hanson!
WOLF (SWE) - Evil Star [CD/2004] 9/10=Excellent stuff here, they really sound like they are straight out of the early 80s Metal Blade roster with fresh production, I have no complaints this time as the cute factor has worn thin.
WOLF (SWE) - The Black Flame [CD/2006] 9/10=It took me a few spins to truly let this sink in, but now I'm enjoying it every bit as much as Evil Star and it is in fact just as incredibly, if not as instantly catchy.

WOLF SPIDER - Wilczy Paj'k [CD/1987] 7/10=Here's something that was new to me despite its age...Polish thrash metal and quite good, even if I can't understand what the hell they're saying.
WOLF SPIDER - Kingdom of Paranoia [CD/1990]
WOLF SPIDER - Drifting in the Sullen Sea [CD/1991] 9/10=Amazing thrash concept album from the Polish legends, fairly technical and totally catchy, excellent, the vocalist is a maniac, why was this CD not fucking huge? Aaaargh.
WOLF SPIDER - Hue of Evil [CD/1991]

WOLFSBANE - Live Fast, Die Fast [CD/1989] 8/10=Oldschool, exciting British metal with a ton of wild hard rock antics, Blaze Bayley is akin to a 'David Lee Roth meets Danzig' on this record, and there are a lot of memorable songs.
WOLFSBANE - Down Fall the Good Guys [CD/1991]
WOLFSBANE - Wolfsbane [CD/1994]

WORLD'S END GIRLFRIEND - Farewell Kingdom [DVD57/2001] 8/10=This album is mildly more electronic than the others, but still incredibly intriguing, I can lose myself easily in this.
WORLD'S END GIRLFRIEND - Dream's End Come True [DVD57/2002] 8/10=Four tunes here, a short full-length from them but just as fascinating as the newer material.
WORLD'S END GIRLFRIEND - The Lie Lay Land [DVD57/2005] 8/10=They simply defy categorization, unique atmospheric music unafraid to explore any corridor.
WORLD'S END GIRLFRIEND - Hurtbreak Wonderland [DVD32/2007] 9/10=Amazing Japanese band...post rock meets ambience meets jazz, jungle, whatever the fuck they desire and it comes out wonderfully.

WUMPSCUT - Bunkertor 7 [CD/1995] 9/10=One of their best albums, they mix harsh industrial EBM with enough interest samples and dark, moody atmosphere to make them a mandatory band for gearheads.
WUMPSCUT - Dried Blood of Gomorrah [CD/1997] 5/10=New mixes and alternate versions of previously released material, decent but I still prefer many of the original tracks.
WUMPSCUT - Embryodead [CD/1997] 8/10=Few industrial bands are able to capture my attention quite like Rudy's Wumpscut, of the recent machine scene they are a standout and almost all their material is worth hearing.
WUMPSCUT - BloodChild [CDx2/1999] 7/10=A compilation of material from many of their mCDs, albums, and so forth, a great starting point for the casual listener interested in Wumpscut.
WUMPSCUT - Eevil Young Flesh [CD/1999] 7/10=Another classy, evil Wumpscut industrial record, the last before Rudy Ratzinger would step shit up in a major way.
WUMPSCUT - Music for a Slaughtering Tribe i + ii (remixes) [CDx2/2000] 9/10=Amazing industrial album and I have the bonus CD with it, great stuff if you're a true fan of this style you already have this and no need for me to continue.
WUMPSCUT - Wreath of Barbs [CD/2001] 8/10=Expands their sound into a lot of directions, and there are some memorable tracks here like the title track and 'Reopening the Gates of Hell'.
WUMPSCUT - Preferential Legacy/Music for a German Tribe [CDx2/2003] 6/10=I've always been a bit confused by their discography, this is another rerelease of some EPs or albums or something, decent enough material.
WUMPSCUT - Bone Peeler [CDx2/2004] 7/10=Wasn't terribly impressed at first but it's grown on me somewhat since I picked it up and now I find it more of that same Wumpscut quality.
WUMPSCUT - Evoke [CD/2005]
WUMPSCUT - Cannibal Anthem [DVD64/2006] 8/10=Yet another killer from the mighty Wumpscut.
WUMPSCUT - Body Census [DVD33/2007] 8/10=Another tight record from Rudy, and yes I realize I missed the last one I need to track that down.
WUMPSCUT - Schadling [CD/2008]

WUTHERING HEIGHTS - Within [CD/1999] 7/10=A pretty well hyped power metal band from Denmark, these guys are great at constantly nailing the listener with interesting compositions, production is not exactly a forte here.
WUTHERING HEIGHTS - To Travel for Evermore [CD/2002] 7/10=Again, they write amazing songs but the production just doesn't do much justice and occasionally the singer or lead guitar seems just slightly off.
WUTHERING HEIGHTS - Far from the Madding Crowd [CD/2004] 9/10=This record crushes the first two, it has a far more powerful sound and just about every song is catchy as fuck. This band will write a masterpiece next time out, I'm sure of it.
WUTHERING HEIGHTS - The Shadow Cabinet [CD/2006] 9/10=Perhaps not the show-stopper I expected, but Shadow Cabinet is another fantastic record that falls only slightly short of Far from the Madding Crowd.

WYRD - Songs of the Northern Gales [CD/2000] 4/5=Drum machine-driven, atmospheric black metal, should be lame but for some reason it's just not, and seems like pretty sincere material, I enjoyed this demo.
WYRD - Heathen [DVD49/2001] 6/10=This album was a single track over 50 minutes long, it has some good moments but the clean vox often threw me off, not as good as the later albums but worth hearing at least once.
WYRD - Huldrafolk [CD/2002] 7/10=Great, raw, cult Norse black metal, that drum machine is still present but this one-man show just rocks out from the crowd, what can I say?
WYRD - Vargtimmen Pt. I [CD/2003] 7/10=This guy does some great work, this is underproduced, glorious Viking art, and it keeps getting better.
WYRD - Vargtimmen Pt. II [CD/2004] 8/10=Better than the first Vargtimmen, stronger and more consistent material, I now count this guy among my favorite current black/Viking metal outfits.
WYRD - Rota [CD/2005] 7/10=Wyrd is always pretty good stuff, this is another catchy Viking metal album but perhaps not as good as the Vargtimmen Pt. II album.
WYRD - The Ghost Album [CD/2006] 8/10=This is yet another great record from Wyrd, seems slightly more melodic, almost like a more blackish version of mid-period Katatonia. And that works for me, it works a lot.
WYRD - Tuonela [CD/2006] 4/10=Two new demo tracks for a split 7" that never emerged, the tracks are a little less melodic than The Ghost Album and more in tune with earlier Wyrd, both are good though.
WYRD - Kammen [DVD33/2007] 8/10=A bit more rock and a bit heavier than The Ghost Album, also they include a Katatonia cover. Great like The Ghost Album.
