"TUNGUSKA2008 - NEW APPROACHES"
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

CONTENTS

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

As you know, there will be the 100th Anniversary of Tunguska in 2008. There will be some conferences on the item. Some celebrations in Moscow (June, 2008), Tomsk (was held in the early May, 2008 and its outcome was the THE [TUNGUSKA] PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED), and Krasnoyarsk (June-July, 2008) are planned.
Here I represent the International conference: "One hundred years of Tunguska phenomenon. New approaches" (briefly called "Tunguska2008 - new approaches"). The conference mainly is devoted to non-meteoritical interpretations of Tunguska. There will be also another Tunguska associated conference. In general it will be devoted to interpretation of Tunguska as a classical (asteroid or comet) spacebody impact and also on defence from space impacts. Here is the www-page of the 'meteoritical' conference: http://tunguska.sai.msu.ru/ I attended the first half day of the 'meteoritical' conference and made a video of some of its reports here (I admit that this 711 MByte file could be too slow to download from outside Russia and it could be hard to discern reporter's words especially sometimes).
For me the most remarkable thing was that the 'meteoritical' conference chairman was not glad with one of the conference reports because it raises more questions about Tunguska then gives answers even during the 100th anniversary (despite that the report was a pure 'meteoritical' one)!

So if you are interested in the 'meteoritical' Tunguska, it may be more interesting to you to attend the 'meteoritical' conference. If you are interested in new 'non-meteoritical' approaches in Tunguska research, it may be more interested to you to attend the "Tunguska2008 - new approaches" conference.

MORE INFO ON THE CONFERENCE WILL BE POSTED LATER

2. PLACE AND TIME

The conference is to be held in Moscow. We were to move our conference from the Polytechnical museum to a press-center of the the most popular Moscow's daily MOSKOVSKII KOMSOMOLETS on June 27. The second day of the conference is to be held on June 30 in the 'home of A. Losev' (Arbat 33/12) (the third floor = 'tretii etazh') at 10.30. You must have your passport.
You can see newspaper's accounts of the first conference's day here and here

Date of the conference is planned to be June 27, and June 30, 2008 in Moscow, followed by an optional brief visit of the Tunguska epicenter (there are some changes in our schedule due to changing the place of the conference).
There were such trips after Tunguska 95, Tunguska 98 and Tunguska-2001 conferences. If you want to better understand what the trips means, you can look at some pictures.
