Are you sick of tooth approximations that just do not fit in your model. Here is my answer. The involute profile is approximated by a spline with 10 points minimum.

The Real Involute Gear Profile

File

Involute Gear, Use as a template, not an iPart. 12 tooth to 400 tooth. Diametral pitch -- 1/2 to 36, pressure angle 14 1/2, 20 and 25 degrees. Yes, there is a extra spread sheet for doing the bores and keyways. The extra hub with set screws are added by you after generating the desired gear. (2nd rev. 16 Aug.02 - faster)

Internal Involute Gear, As above but. 24 tooth to 400 tooth. Diametral pitch -- 1/2 to 36, pressure angle 14 1/2, 20 and 25 degrees

Involute Helical Gear. I am still working on this one but it just is not stable enough and I am afraid it is still too slow to be much of a tool. Hopefully there will be something in Inventor 6 that will make it possible.
