On March 13 at approximately 6:40 PM, Midland VFD, Station 95, was dispatched to the 600 block of Penn Ave for a reported fire.  This brought automatic aid from Industry, Ohioville, and Shippingport VFD's.  The Police Department arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke and fire from the basement of the home.  Midland Engine established command and attack while Shippingport Station 96 established water supply.  Crews from Ohioville assisted Midland's attack team in the basement and a second Ohioville team performed a Primary then Secondary search of the structure.  Industry Station 97, established safety team assignments and also backed up the basement attack team.
Recently we finished building a remote access transit cart. (RAT for short) The RAT will be used to transport equipment to remote areas for rescue and/or brush fires.  Also we made the RAT fully adaptable for patient removal from remote areas also.  The RAT has tie downs for the stokes basket, an IV pole, and a step that attaches in the rear for the Medical Technician to ride with the patient.  Although many members contributed to the design and construction of this unit, Rich Decker and RJ Dawson peformed most of the final design tweaks and all of the construction.  Good job guys!   If needed other area departments can request our services with this new piece of equipment.
