HISTORY

Ohio Chapter D, known as "Western Reserve Wings", was chartered in April of 1982 with a core of 12 families that lived in the Northeast Ohio region. Our first Chapter Director was John Stegkemper.

Beginning with John and continuing to the present

Chapter D has had excellent Chapter Directors which included Don & Cindy Davis, Jim & Diane Riley, Bob & Karen Coulter, Chuck & Sharon Battaglia, Bill & Diane Ridley, Rich & Sue Bertleff, Terry Bernstein Ralph and Jean Kingsmill, Bob Myer. Our present Chapter Director is Terry Bernstein, who agreed to a second term.

When Chapter D was chartered its borders extended from Cleveland, OH to the Pennsylvania border and the lands to the east of Interstate 77 as far south as the Ohio River. As a result of growth and expansion of the Ohio Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter D has the distinction of fathering the most chapters. Following is a list of chapters that at one time were part of Chapter D's area: E, H1, Z, P, T, B1, G1, Q, L1, M, and I.

Today Chapter D is centered in the beautiful and scenic countryside of Geauga County but have members attending from the surrounding counties.

Over the years Chapter D has donated or contributed to the following charities: McDonald House, Red Cross, Clothe - A - Child, Toys For Tots, food for the Geauga County Task Force of United Way, Hambden Township Park, Hambden Congregational Church, the Hattie Larlham Foundation, and others.    The chapter is very active with a variety of rides and over-night stays throughout Ohio and surrounding states of New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, and even into our neighboring nation of Canada.

Some of our more favorable activities include all types of rides; dinner rides, poker runs, parades, camp-outs, weekend trips, scenic rides, and many others. We even provide off season activities which include bowling, Christmas light tours, museums, movies, four wheel dinner rides, and our annual Christmas Party.

We are very supportive of other chapters by having high attendance at events and activities sponsored by our neighboring chapters. As for state rallies and Wing Ding, you will always find members of Chapter D in attendance.

Chapter D's members are proud of its history and look forward to its future. Fun, Friendship, and Knowledge are the key to Chapter D and all the chapters in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
