delectus
It is no assertion of the primacy of imagination that most of what I write for a living causes sleep.

But consider, if you will, a weathered iceberg with its up side down. The revealed bulk tells such fibs that the concealed tip hides. Yet both make up the same mass.

Delectus turns that unusual iceberg on its head and makes known words spoken differently for different persons.

The articles, poetry, stories, and vignettes enclosed in our iceberg's tip do not suffer from association with advertisements for pokemon baseball cards and beanie babies at Yahoo! Auctions, or tiny, wireless, and affordable video cameras: they owe these commercial announcements their first breath of fresh air.

Olivier Serrat
And so you cry for her, and the poem falls to the page as if it knew all along that what we make of ourselves we take from one another's hearts - tearing and shouting until we learn how awkwardly, upstairs and behind shut doors we are born already owing interest on what we have borrowed from the world.
