NYPD Blue Fanfiction

Mary Cecilia's Fanfic

"The Best Things Happen When You Dance"

Hey again guys! For a change of pace I thought I would write an A & C
FanFic. While reading please keep in mind that I understand fully that
my Fan Fic wont be anywhere near as good as all of yours have turned out
to be, but, I am in New York for a whole month and thought "What the
heck? Might as well write!" I hope you like it.

Sorry it's sorta short, "Bedroom Scenes" aren't my thing, so you'll
just have to use your imagination about what happened after the
restaurant.

The following scenes will be a date between Andy and Connie that takes
place between "22 Skidoo" and the wedding we are all yearning for so
much.

Last thing; before I get to the actual FF, with the permission of Tina,
I would like to steal her idea and share a song with you guys that
whenever I hear it, I am reminded of NYPD Blue, and ours truly, Andy and
Connie.

"I Swear"
Boyz II Men

I swear,
By the moon and the stars in the skies.
And I swear,
Like the shadow that's by your side.

I see the questions in your eyes.
I know what's weighing on your mind.
You can be sure I know my part.
'Cause I,
Stand beside you through the years.
You'll only cry those happy tears.
And though I make mistakes,
I'll never break your heart.

And I swear,
By the moon and the stars in the skies.
I'll be there.
I swear,
Like the shadow that's by your side.
I'll be there.
For better or worse,
'Till death do us part.
I'll love you with every beat of my heart,
I swear.
Oooo...

I'll give you everything I can.
I'll build your dreams with these two hands.
We'll hang some memories on the walls.
And when,
(And When)
Just the two of us are there,
You wont have to ask if I still care.
'Cause as the times as the change,
My love wont age at all.

And I swear,
(I swear)
By the moon and the stars in the skies,
I'll be there,
(I'll be there)
I swear,
(And I swear)
Like the shadow that's by your side.
I'll be there,
(I'll be there)
For better or worse,
'Till death do us part,
I love you with every beat of my heart.
And I swear.
(Oh yea)

I swear,
(I swear)
By the moon and the stars in the skies,
I'll be there,
(I'll be there)
I swear,
(I swear)
Like a shadow that's by your side.
I'll be there,
(I'll be there)
For better or worse,
(Better or worse)
'Till death do us part,
(Oh No)
I'll love you with every single beat of my heart.
And I swear.
I swear.
Oh Oh...
I Swear.

And without further ado...

SCENE 1

7:30 PM On a Friday night.
Andy's Car.

::Andy and Connie are sitting in the car, not talking much. This is
their first night alone since their supposed to be wedding night. Connie
is staring out the window, only half aware of her surroundings and where
Andy's driving her.::

Andy: (Clearing his throat softly) Uhmm.... Connie....you all right?

Connie: (Snapping back to reality) Huh? Oh....ummm....Yea, I'm fine
Andy. (Smiles softly)

Andy: (Not quite convinced) You sure?

Connie: Yea, I am, I'm just feeling a little guilty leaving the kids
with Rita.

Andy: Well, wasn't she the one who offered to watch them?

Connie: Yea, yea she was, but, I don't know....I think she feels like
she's to blame. Us having to postpone the wedding and all. I think
that's why she said she'd babysit, and since John's visiting his mother for
a couple of days, I don't know....I guess I just took her up on the
offer a little too quickly, that's all. She's been kind of quiet since the
Lou. was shot. Not talking to me as much as she used to.

Andy: (Somewhat confused) What? Why would SHE feel guilty? If anybody,
Fraker should. I think he should also be happy that she didn't put one
in his head when she had the chance. But that's just what I think. And
about her being quiet, if she needs to talk she will. Remember when she
found out her scum bag husband was sleepin' around? She let you know.
Don't worry, wait it out. She'll be fine.

Connie: (Smiling weakly) Yea....yea, you're right. She will. Man you're
easy to talk to. Thanks.

Andy: Yea, anytime, listen, we can talk about work when we're at home.
We're almost to the restaurant. It's just around the corner here....

::Andy turns right, pulls into the parking lot and parks the car. He
then gets out and opens Connie's door.::

SCENE 2

8:00 PM

An extravagant Italian restaurant decorated with gorgeous murals
covering the walls, and chandeliers hanging from the beautifully sculpted
ceiling. The fragrance of tomato sauce and garlic permeated the air so
powerfully that you could smell it in the parking lot. It was the
quintessential Italian bistro. To top it all off, when Andy and Connie walked
through the door hand-in-hand, they looked the best together than ever
before.

::After confirming Andy's reservations, a waiter showed them to a table
near the piano and the dance floor. As Andy took a look around all he
could see were young couples, talking, laughing, and enjoying their
meals. But it didn't bother him as much as it used to. After pulling out
Connie's chair for her and then taking his seat, his eyes fixed among
Connie's. Her blue eyes sparkled as the flames on the candles between them
flickered. They were beautiful. She....she was beautiful.

::Connie didn't talk much at first. She was taking it all in at the
moment. Her and Andy's eyes met, and it was as if when she looked into
his, she could see her future. And what a magical one it would be. Every
time she thought she had gotten him figured out, he surprised her with
something like tonight. She hadn't pictured this as where they were
going to go, but she had no problems with it. "How is it.." She wondered,
"that despite all the trouble and trauma I have caused him, that he
still always managed to treat me like I was a queen?" "And that, even
though the kids and The Job caused problems, he was always a gentleman when
we are together?" Tonight was magnificent. She was the luckiest woman
in the whole room.::

::Halfway through the meal, Andy set down his fork and knife.::

Andy: Connie, would you like to....err....dance?

Connie: (Looking up.) Sure. (A smile spread across her face.)

::Connie gets up and takes Andy's extended arm as he leads her to the
dance floor.::

Andy: You're really....uhhh....beautiful tonight.

::They start dancing, although it's slow, the room around them seems to
be spinning.::

Connie: (Smiling) Thanks, you look really nice too.

Andy: (Sarcastically) I'm sure. (Pausing a second) Wow. This must be
some kind of record or something, me not messin' up the date so far and
all.

Connie: (Laughing softly) You're really not as bad as you think. You
should give yourself more credit. Tonight's been great. Thanks.

::She moves closer to Andy and softly kisses him on the lips.::

Andy: (Grateful but surprised) (Clearing his throat) You're very
welcome. (Lowering his voice to a whisper) But I hope you didn't feel like
you had to do that....everyone watching and all....(trailing off)

Connie: (interrupting)....I didn't feel like I HAD to kiss you Andy. I
wanted to. And everyone watching doesn't bother me in the slightest.
The only person I care about is you Andy. You know that right? I love
you.

Andy: (Pausing for a moment....)Yea....yea I know. Connie, I hope you
know, that I love you too. I know I've never said it, but I always have,
from the moment we first met. I love you too.

Connie: (Extremely pleased to hear him say this) (Grinning widely) Yes,
I know now.

::And with that, they danced the rest of the night away.::

THE END
