“A Love So Strong”

An Episode Expansion of the last scene to “You Da Bomb”

By:  Tina (with important contributions from Vicki)

Rated: R  (Major Gutter Zone)

I’m so happy that I want to do cartwheels.  “You Da Bomb” was one of the best Blues ever for me.

To my posse,

Especially Sister Carole…words cannot express my undying gratitude to you for sharing your synopsis of the original script for this episode with us.  Your synopsis is what started this little piece of literature.  I was pretty fired up after reading it and this is what came out!  I wrote the core parts of this little ditty in a matter of a few hours.  That’s how delirious I am with joy!

I’ve been waiting for forever for Andy to say those three words.  See what a little inspiration and “three little words” can do!  Stevie, for the love of God, please take the hint!!!  LOL!!!

It’s a foregone conclusion.  It’s official.  Your VP’s #1 priority on her “To Do List for 2004” will be to insure that an honest to goodness “real” kiss happens between these two this season.  I have committed myself to this task.  Or is that I’ll be committed…(only if I don’t achieve it!!!)

In the meantime, this will have to do.  J

Your VP,

Tina

Per Secret Agent Lowe, we pick up at Scene #37 of “You Da Bomb”

Connie and Andy are home with Theo at the dining room table.  Andy and Theo are discussing Theo’s upcoming baseball season and the need for new cleats.  Theo goes to get ready for bed, which leaves Andy and Connie alone for a moment.  Connie tells Andy that they should talk to Theo because she doesn’t want him hearing about this at school.  Andy says he will if Connie will tuck him in.

The emotions of the day overcome Connie and she begins to cry.  Andy holds her.

Here’s my take on Scene #37 and what else that should happen that isn’t being allowed to be seen once the scene fades to black:

Part I – (It’s About Life…)

Scene #37

The Living Room

The Sipowicz Apartment

“Go get ready for bed squirt.  Connie and I will be in in a minute.”

“OK Dad.”

Theo walks down the hallway to his bedroom to get changed and ready for bed.

Andy and Connie walk over together to the living room.  They sit on the sofa.

“Andy…we should talk to Theo tonight and explain to him about today.  I don’t want him hearing about this from kids at school.”

“Connie…I will.  I promise…right after you tuck him in.”

Connie reaches for Andy.  She puts her head against Andy’s shoulder.  Andy cradles her against him tightly.  The emotions of the day come tumbling down around her.  Connie’s tears flow freely.  They both realize how close they both came to losing all of this today.

Andy is just around the corner from insanity.  Madness.  Thinking about what might have happened today.  On the outside he doesn’t let it show…but he knows she knows.  Right now he doesn’t know how to act or what to do.  He feels her emotions, her sadness, and her need.  It is from her that he gets his daily strength.  Tonight, he HAS to be the strong one.

Andy:  (to himself):  If a breakdown comes, please don’t let it happen in front of her.  Let me be alone when it comes.  She don’t need to be keepin’ care of me in her time of need.  How can I tell her what I’m feelin’ inside when all I want is to hold her and make things better?

“Andy…” she whispers.

“Shhhhhhhhhh…. let it out.”   Andy tells her as he holds her tightly caressing her head against him.  It is all he can do.

After a few minutes, the crying subsides.  Andy wipes away her lingering tears with the pad of his thumb.  Andy caresses the side of her face with his hand and then takes her hand in his and squeezes it.

“C’mon.  Go tell Theo goodnight.”

Scene #38

Theo’s Bedroom:

Connie enters Theo’s bedroom.  Camera pans to a quick glance at Michelle’s crib and a small desk lamp on Theo’s nightstand beside his bed.  Theo is already in bed waiting up for Connie so he can be tucked in for the night.

She sits beside him and reaches over to run her hand through his hair.

“What took you so long?”  Theo looks up at her and can tell something’s wrong.

“Me and your Dad were just talking.”

“Connie…are you sure you’re alright?  You seem kinda weird tonight.”

“Everything is just fine.  Goodnight sweetheart.  I love you so much.”

Connie gathers the boy in her arms and hugs him fiercely to her and kisses the top of his head.

“Goodnight Mom.  I love you.”  And Theo hugs her and gives her a kiss on the cheek.

“I love you too.”  She tells him desperately fighting to hold back the tears.

Connie kisses the top of his forehead and as she gets up to leave she whispers back to him “Goodnight sweetheart…don’t let the bedbugs bite.”

Scene #39

The Hallway

He stood there still as silence in the hallway watching the two of them through the crack in the door.  Two of the most precious people in his life.  Looking at her, thinking of what he almost lost today.  Thinking of the softness of her kiss and the way she holds him.  She has always been the strong one.  It is her who makes this love so strong.  Tonight he had wished that this never happened.  It’s a scary thing to almost lose someone that you love and have your faith put to the test.

His heart and head are killing him.  As fragile as he feels right now, his thoughts will be okay if he can keep them in order.  He’ll hold himself together for the moment but his strength is getting weaker by the minute.  Leaning against the hallway wall for support, trying his best to regroup so he can talk to his son, he begs for God’s help.

We see Andy peeking through the opening in the doorway in the hall as he hears Connie’s conversation with Theo.  A tear slides down his face.  He brushes it away before Connie can see him in the hallway eavesdropping.

Andy:  (thinking to himself):  “Please, God, if you’re there.  Get me through this.  I don’t want to scare him.  Help me find the right words.  I know I’ve been askin’ a lot of you today.  Just see me through this.”

Connie meets him out in the hallway and grasps his hand like a lifeline.

“Your turn.” She tells him as she looks up at him…the tears about to start again.  Andy’s heart is filling with emotion.  It’s everything he can do to move his feet and walk into Theo’s room and tell him goodnight.

“I’ll talk to him.  And I’ll be right in.”  He practically chokes on the words as he releases her hand.

Andy waited for the words to come and God did the rest.

Scene #40 (Off Camera)

Theo’s Bedroom:

Andy tells Theo what happened today at work with Connie.  I feel this is something that could be done off-camera.  We don’t need to see the details of the conversation necessarily.  We know Andy will tell Theo what he needs to know.

Part II – (It’s About Love…)

Scene #41

Andy & Connie’s Bedroom:

Andy shut the door to their bedroom.  Connie had been standing there waiting anxiously for him.  He watched a tear fall silently down her cheek with more building up behind her soft blue eyes, his body tired, spent from the day, he can feel himself breaking to pieces.

“How’d it go?”

“He’s fine.  He’s OK.”

“Are you?”

“Am I what?”

“Okay???”

Now it was Connie’s turn to give comfort.  He’d been holding himself together all day for her, for them…but Connie could see in his eyes that Andy’s resolve was ready to crack.  He couldn’t take much more.  They both walked over and sat on the edge of the bed.  Connie put her arm around him.

Andy wouldn’t look at her.  He wants to avoid the inevitable.  He gets up and goes into the bathroom trying to do everything but look at her face.  He couldn’t look at her now without breaking up.  Connie follows him in.  The emotion of the day finally got to him.  He’d been a rock for her all day long but now that rock was ready to crumble to dust.  Andy fought to choke back his emotions but Connie wouldn’t let him.

He grips the side of the bathroom sink for strength.  He couldn’t feel his legs.  Connie can see he is about to crumble.  He looks into the bathroom mirror…the tears begin to fall as she touches his shoulder with her hand.  She turns him to her.

“Andy, look at me.  Let it come.”  She told him as she took his hands in hers and kissed each one.

“I love you.” She tells him as the tears fall freely now.

It was his turn now.  Tonight, he’ll hurt and cry with her.  Both of them think of all that was almost lost today.  Their unborn child.  The love they share.

“I love you so much.  You’re everything to me.”  He told her.  Andy let it out and out it came in more tears…tears of relief, tears of fear, tears of grief.  Connie caressed his face and made Andy look into her eyes.

“I’m here.  And I’m okay.”  She tried to reassure him.

He wanted so desperately to say something to her but there were no words…words to assure her that he would always keep her safe and warm in his arms and his love.  But there were only feelings and a dire need to love her.

“Do you know how much I love you?”   She reached over and slowly kissed him.  Connie took his hand and led him back into their bedroom.    Andy responded like a man dying of thirst.

Andy lowered her to the bed.  He tossed the comforter to one side and then pulled her back into his arms.  Her rose colored silk pajamas were cool beneath his fingertips.  He tenderly brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear.  Deep, blue eyes filled with desire looked back up at him.

His thumb traced over her lower lip.  Her mouth trembled beneath his touch.  “I’ve been wanting to do this all day.”  His fingertips skimmed down her neck as he kissed her there.  He felt the rapid beating of her pulse against the back of his fingers.  His hands swept back up her throat and he tilted her chin with his thumbs.  His mouth captured hers.  The taste of Connie intoxicated him.

He leaned over her but kept his weight off her body.  He looked at her with awe and reverence.  Andy looked down at her pajama top.  The first button on the top slipped through its hole.  His fingers traveled to the next button.  The next button came undone.  His fingers moved lower.  Her top parted and he sucked in his breath at the sight of her.

Connie reached for the hem of his t-shirt and tugged upward.  She sighed with pleasure as the shirt came up over his head.

“Andy...I love you.   Forever.”

He leaned down and strung a line of kisses from the corner of her mouth to the deep valley between her breasts.  Connie’s fingers were in his hair, pulling him closer.  She needed him as much as he needed her at this very moment.

He captured one rosy nipple with his lips.  Connie arched up off the bed, cupped him and urged him to come closer.  His hand slid down her stomach.  His mouth followed, as he brushed small, wet kisses across her tummy and whispered, “I love you little one.”

The tenderness she felt for this man was never more apparent than in that moment.  A tear ran down her cheek.

Connie’s fingers undid his belt and lowered his zipper.  Andy’s heart pounded as she slowly slid her hand into his boxers and wrapped it around his penis.  Connie’s mouth brushed his ear.  Delicate fingers increased their pace as Connie’s tongue outlined his ear.

Andy was dangerously close to losing all control.  He grabbed her wrists and then he captured her mouth in a flurry of kisses before she could protest.  While his mouth tasted and tormented her, he quickly undressed both of them.  And then Andy paused.

He was having a hard time catching his breath as his gaze caught hers.  He wondered what he’d done to deserve such a blessing.  He had so much to be thankful for tonight.

This wonderful woman who looked so exquisite.  The mother of his child.  Her skin glowed in the pale light of the room.  Tonight was a night to be savored, to be satisfied, and to be alive.  Andy wanted to savor each and every moment.

He leaned forward slowly and kissed each nipple.  His fingers danced across her stomach and teased the bush of tightly wound curls below.  Connie raised her hips and Andy’s fingers sank deeper into the nest of curls.  He nipped her lower lip as one finger found her moist center.  He fastened his mouth to hers and slowly sank his finger into her heat.  Andy’s mouth then followed the same hungry path his hand had taken.

Connie cried out as Andy’s tongue tormented her.  Over and over again until she couldn’t take anymore.  Greedy hands then pulled him nearer, and he found himself positioned above her.  Their bodies were aligned perfectly as he slid a second finger into her tight, moist opening.  Connie’s mouth opened wide as she deepened the kiss and wrapped her legs around his thighs.

A haze blurred his vision as he teased and tormented Connie and himself into near madness.  Tonight he needed her maybe more than ever before.

Connie’s voice brought him to consciousness.

“Andy,” Connie’s voice was a harsh plea coming between rapid breaths, “now”.

He slid his hands to the back of her thighs and pulled her legs up higher until she was encircling his hips.  The tip of his arousal nudged her opening and he could feel the heat and the moisture surrounding his swollen flesh.  With a slowness that caused perspiration to bead his forehead, he inched his way in.  Tightness, sweet and moist, engulfed him.  But it was the look of love on Connie’s face that undid him.

Connie’s legs tightened in protest as he slowly pulled back, but he didn’t leave her.  The world could end at this precious moment and he wouldn’t leave her.  He didn’t leave her alone today.  He couldn’t leave her.  She was his life.  He could never leave the other half of his soul.  That’s what she was to him.  He slowly sank back in only to feel her legs tighten in reaction and her hips leave the bed.  This time he went in farther, and Connie closed her eyes while pulling him in deeper still.

The haze that had been blurring his vision turned into thick clouds of desire as his body overruled his mind.  His pace quickened, and Connie matched him thrust for thrust.  He could feel his climax in the base of his shaft, screaming for release, yet he thrust on, taking them both higher with every plunge.  His moustache scraped her chin as he kissed her.  He could feel Connie’s heels digging into the back of his thighs.  He urged her on

desperately needing for her to climax first so he could feel her alive in him.  He needed to feel her all around him, enclosing him.

Their pace increased to a wild frenzy.  Connie tore her mouth away from his and nearly screamed his name, “Andy!” as her eyes went wide with wonder.

Andy could feel the climax that shook her entire body.  Delicate silken muscles clutched him tighter and contracted around him shattering the last of his strength.  Her cry of release had barely faded as he shuddered and pumped his own climax into Connie’s hot, sweet body.

Together they held each other as the waves of rapture subsided.

Today Andy had stared down the face of hell and looked the devil in the eye and this time the devil blinked.  He wouldn’t forget that feeling of helplessness nor would he ever take for granted again all that they had together.

He knew how lucky he was.  God was testing him once again.  But Andy wouldn’t let him win.  As far as Andy was concerned, God had already taken his share from him.  God was messing with the wrong guy.

Part III – (It’s About The Strength Two People Share Together…)

Scene #42

Andy & Connie’s Bedroom

Much Later around 3:00 a.m.

Dream Sequence

Andy couldn’t sleep.  He glanced over at the clock.  The clock read 2:53 a.m.  He disentangled himself from Connie’s loving embrace and walked out into the living room and turned on the TV.  Today’s events were still weighing heavily on his mind.

As the static from the television blocks his words, Andy begins in a sorrowful tone to have a conversation with God.

“You want a piece of me, you prick.  Why don’t you just take me?  She’s never done anything to you.  They all never did anything to you.  You want to see me bleed.  I’ve bled enough already.  You keep taking pieces of my life...snatching them away from me…one by one.

“Well, I’ve had enough.  You can’t have her…you hear me.  You can’t have her…and you can’t have our child.  You got that.  I won’t let you.  You wanna take someone…take me!”

(Just then…in a flash…Sylvia is sitting there beside him.)

“Andy…you don’t get to choose who stays and who goes.”

“Sylvia????” (rubbing his eyes as in disbelief)

“Andy…you need to let go of your anger.”

Sylvia sat beside him and then took his hand in hers…

“You can’t change what’s come before but you can make the most of the future.  You have so many gifts ahead just waiting for you.  Get out of your own way and accept them.”

“Tell me this is the last bump in the road…”

“Andy…you know I can’t do that.  Look around you.  Look at all the good that’s come in to your life.  Just who do you think is responsible for that?  There are so many gifts you’ve been given and even more that are on the way.”

“Theo’s growing to be such a fine young man…” her voice trailed off.

“That’s because of you.”  Andy reminded her.

“No…that’s because of you and because you embraced life once again.  You’ve moved on with your life.  You’ve made a life from the pieces that have fallen all around you…a wonderful life for our son.”

“Sylvia…”

“Live your life and be happy Andy.  It’s all anyone can do.  I’m glad she makes you happy.”

“She does.”

“And don’t regret the past…regret for the past is a waste of spirit.  Don’t let what’s come before destroy everything you’ve gained.   Don’t be afraid to open your eyes to what lies ahead.”

Sylvia put her finger to his lips.  “Andy…when something is taken, something is also given back in ways you’ve never even imagined.”

“I’ve said more than I should…I’ve got to go.”

“But…

And suddenly she was gone.

***********************************************************************

Andy woke up with a startled jolt from his dream.  He looked over at Connie sleeping contentedly.  He glanced over at the clock on the nightstand.  The clock read 3:00 a.m.

Making sure he didn’t wake Connie, he slowly eased himself out of bed.  He went into the bathroom.  His t-shirt was soaked.  Drenched in sweat.  He went over to the dresser bureau and pulled out a fresh t-shirt.  He went into the bathroom and closed the door gently again making sure he didn’t wake Connie.

He went to the bathroom sink and splashed some water on his face and changed his t-shirt.  He looked up at his face in the mirror and saw the tears begin to form again at the corner of his eyes.

He put the toilet lid down, sat back and took a deep breath. He sat there trying to regain his composure, tears rolling down his face and silently said a prayer to the heavens up above.

“Help me God.  I’m scared…so scared that you’ll take this all away again.  Don’t take this away from me.  I don’t ask much.  Just help me to keep care and love this family that I have right now.”

Danny’s Song

People smile and tell me I’m the lucky one.

And we have just begun.

Think I’m gonna have a son.

He will be like she and me…

As free as a dove,

Conceived in love.

Sun is gonna shine above.

And even though we ain’t got money.

I’m so in love with you honey

And everything will bring a chain of love.

And in the morning when I rise,

You bring a tear of joy to my eyes.

And tell me everything is gonna be alright.

And now a smile, a face, a girl that shares my name.

Now I’m through with the game.

This boy will never be the same.

Pisces, Virgo rising is a very good sign.

Strong and kind.

And the little boy is mine.

Now I see a family where there once was none.

Now we’ve just begun.

Yeah, we’re gonna fly to the sun.

And even though we ain’t got money.

I’m so in love with you honey

And everything will bring a chain of love.

And in the morning when I rise,

You bring a tear of joy to my eyes.

And tell me everything is gonna be alright.

Love the girl who holds the world in a paper cup.

Drink it up.

Love her and she’ll bring you luck.

And if you find, she helps your mind.

Buddy, take her home.

Don’t you live alone.

Try to earn what lovers own.

And even though we ain’t got money.

I’m so in love with you honey

And everything will bring a chain of love.

And in the morning when I rise,

You bring a tear of joy to my eyes.

And tell me everything is gonna be alright.
