Alternate Final Scene - Ho Down

By Loweonthego

I

This is my final scene for the Ho Down episode - that apparently the powers that be opted to cut before it aired! Enjoy!

BACKGROUND: As you may remember, after pissing off drug dealer Money T's girlfriend, shots were later fired and narrowly missed Andy and John as they entered the Precinct House. Two subsequent raids brought down Money T and his gang. After a long day, Connie paid a visit to Andy and Theo's apartment where she told Andy how she had been scared by the events of the day and that she wanted to spend the night with Andy - she didn't want to go home alone.

SCENE 1: Andy's apartment, Theo's bedroom.

Connie is sitting on the side of Theo's bed.

THEO: (excited) Are you going to be here for breakfast?

CONNIE: I sure am. (adjusting the bed covers)

THEO: Can we have scrambled eggs? They are my favorite.

CONNIE: We'll see. (waits a beat) You better get some sleep, it's getting late. (leans over and gives Theo a kiss on the forehead) Good Night.

THEO: Good Night Connie.

Connie walks out of the room, closing the door behind her. As she walks into the living room she finds Andy putting pillows on the sofa bed - which he has opened. He's already changed into pajama bottoms and a t-shirt.

ANDY: Theo all tucked in?

CONNIE: Yeah. He's already talking about breakfast.

ANDY: He's a growing boy.

Connie walks over and picks up her overnight bag.

CONNIE: I'm going to change. (a slight nervousness in her voice) I'll be right back.

ANDY: (slightly awkward) You need anything?

CONNIE: (walks off toward the bathroom - slight smile) No, I'm fine.

Andy adjusts the covers on the bed for what seems like an eternity to him. He looks at his watch and then towards the bathroom door. He needed to calm down....and walked to the kitchen and retrieved a glass of water. Why was he so nervous? They'd been together before. But this was the first time Connie had slept over at his apartment and the happenings of the day had made things different. They had reconfirmed their feelings for each other - their need for each other.

As he walked back into the living room Connie exited the bathroom wearing pajama bottoms and a camisole top. Andy stopped momentarily to take in how simply beautiful she looked. He realized he was truly a lucky man to have her in his life - this special lady who wanted to be with him. Sometimes, he couldn't believe it his good fortune.

ANDY: (still feeling a little awkward, holding the glass of water) You want something to drink?

CONNIE: No, I'm fine. (starts looking at the aquarium as she gets in bed) The fish are really relaxing to watch, aren't they.

ANDY: Yeah, they are. (walks over and sits on the edge of the bed looking at Connie) I'm glad you're here.

CONNIE: Me too. (Touching Andy gently on the arm) Today really scared me....(waiting a beat) I wasn't trying to rush anything with Theo. I didn't want to be alone tonight. I just wanted to be with you.

ANDY: I know. Today, it scared me too. (getting under the covers and putting his arms around Connie, she pulls in closer to his chest)

CONNIE: I feel so safe when I'm with you....in your arms, like this.

ANDY: You are...

CONNIE: (She turns her head to face Andy, as tears start to well up in her eyes) I don't know what I would have done if you'd been hit by that sniper today. We're so lucky.

ANDY: (gently stroking her hair) We are lucky.....

CONNIE: (finishing his sentence) .... lucky to have each other. (she slowly goes to kiss him on the lips)

They share a long gentle kiss and as their lips part they continue to look into each others eyes. There is a sensation of longing easily recognized by both of them in each others eyes. They hold their gaze for a moment and kiss again.

ANDY: (with a slight smile) This is going to be a long night.

CONNIE: (her head on Andy's chest...as if to listen to his heart beating) Why do you say that?

ANDY: (The nervousness returns to his voice.) You know.

Suddenly and quietly they hear the door to Theo's room open and Theo comes walking into the living room.

ANDY: Something wrong Theo?

THEO: Can I have some water, please?

CONNIE: (looking to Andy) I'll get it for you. (Connie gets out of bed and walks to the kitchen to retrieve the water.)

ANDY: (quietly, to Theo) Do you remember the talk we had earlier? (Theo is shaking his head yes.) Connie and I are having a sleep over....but you stay in your room and we stay out here. You can't keep coming out for water....or something, unless there's a problem, ok?

THEO: OK, but I was thirsty.....

ANDY: ....and you wanted to see Connie again. (Connie walks over with a glass of water and hands it to Theo who is beaming at Connie.) OK, say good night.

THEO: Do I have to go to bed already? I don't have school tomorrow.

ANDY: (giving him a stern look) Theo....

THEO: (resigned that he must go back to his bed...) OK...Good night Connie.

Connie leans over and gives Theo another hug and watches as he slowly walks off to his room. As the door closes to Theo's room, Connie climbs back into the bed and looks over at Andy.

CONNIE: (with a sly smile) Where were we?

ANDY: (with a look of loss on his face...almost like a little boy) Realizing what wasn't going to happen here tonight...It's not because I don't want to...(waiting a beat) ......you know. We can't with Theo in the next room.

CONNIE: (cuddling up close again with Andy) I know. That's ok. This is just fine with me....just being here with you.

ANDY: I'm glad you're here.

CONNIE: Me too.

The scene fades out with Connie snuggling up close with Andy and the two of them getting comfortable for the evening...the long evening.

SCENE 2: Early Morning. Sipowicz apartment.

Two pair of feet and legs are entwined with each other and the bed covers. Andy and Connie are comfortably sleeping with their bodies "spooning" tightly together. You can hear footsteps lightly across the floor. Andy begins to awaken and is pleasantly surprised his dream was in fact reality. He takes a deep breath and takes in the sweet scent of Connie's hair. He realizes his hand and Connie's hand are interlocked and he pulls their hands close to her body. Connie begins to stir and rolls over finding herself face to face with Andy. They share a gaze for a moment.

CONNIE: Good Morning.

ANDY: Good Morning. How'd you sleep?

CONNIE: (still gazing into his protective eyes) Perfectly. (She gives him a small good morning kiss.)

ANDY: Good...me too.

Andy begins to give Connie a kiss when he realizes he hears the footsteps on the living room floor. He sits up.

ANDY: Theo, what are you doing up so early?

THEO: (walking over from the kitchen) When is breakfast going to be ready? I'm hungry.

ANDY: It's still early Theo. (he looks at Connie, who is now sitting up in the bed)

CONNIE: Theo, why don't you go brush your teeth and get dressed. I'll start breakfast. How do scrambled eggs sound to you?

THEO: Yeah! (and he runs off towards the bathroom)

ANDY: So much for breakfast in bed.

CONNIE: There's always next time...come on, give me a hand with breakfast.

ANDY: (extending his hand to her) Here...

CONNIE: (she takes his hand and leans forward, closer to him - looking as if she is about to give him a kiss) Come on....(Suddenly pulling him out of bed by the hand he had extended to her - as he appeared ready to steal a kiss from her.)

Still holding on to Andy's hand, the pair walk into the kitchen and are shortly joined by Theo. As they prepare breakfast, Andy looks around the kitchen and likes what he sees. Given the events of the previous day, this wasn't a bad way to start his morning off. He could get used to this, Andy thought to himself.
