| The Association was founded in 1953 with 24 members who were concerned about the standard of cricket umpiring and the poor esteem in which umpires were held by the players. The main objective is to improve the standard of umpiring and scoring and the status of the umpires and scorers via a system of training courses and examinations which are organised by Regional Councils but controlled centrally. |
