(MBTC) Liberia
Overview
MBTC is a short-term training program
for Gospel ministers of the
Fellowship of Apostolic Pentecostal Assemblies (FAPA) headquarters
at the New Water in the Desert Assembly
(NWIDA) Campus in
Brewerville, Montserrado County. The
strategy is to field a team of
facilitators to the frontline where the gospel is really been preached
to help refresh and strengthen ministers
of the gospel in their work
through a 2-day program. FAPA is
organized to advance the fellowship,
evangelism and prayer (PEF) needs of the
28-member church community.
Objectives
The main objectives are:
1. To develop manpower for the evangelization of Liberia and regions beyond 2. To train pastors, evangelists, etc through short-term training programs for effective ministry especially in the rural areas 3. To refresh and strengthen church leaders engaged in evangelism and missions through the annual ministerial seminar, amongst others. 4. To serve as a catalyst for the development of a full Bible training center for training gospel workers and other Christians desirous of propagate the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Brief History and
Achievements:
MBTC was organized in October 2005
during a
ministerial meeting at the Abundant Life Assembly in Harbel, Margibi County. Harbel is home to the American-run Firestone Rubber Plantation, the largest rubber farm in the world where approximately quarter of a million people live and fan for a living. The town is also home to Liberia’s Robert International Airport. The clinic was launched in January 2006 in Totota, Bong County at the Upper Room Apostolic Pentecostal Church. Totota is about 100 miles north of Monrovia, the Capital of Liberia. That touching 2-day training program brought together about 25 (twenty-five) pastors and evangelists, who called for more training after the sessions. MBTC moved northwest in February 2006 to
the town of
Tubmanburg, 45 miles away from Monrovia. About 30 (thirty) participants responded also by calling for more training. Towards the end of February, the team moved to Harbel City again, where about 40 (forty) pastors and evangelists responded to the training. In March 2006, the team drove on very bad roads a whole day and a whole night to reach Harper, Maryland in eastern Liberia, about 400 miles away from Monrovia where about 40 (forty) participants were trained. It was difficult but rewarding mission. To date, MBTC has trained about 150 participants from more than 20 (twenty) churches since the beginning of 2006. The next consideration for MBTC is the seaport city
of
Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, about 87 miles south of Monrovia. The town with almost half a million people is considered a “church city” because there are churches almost on every street but many of the ministers are poorly prepared to meet the growing demands of present day ministry. They need to be helped. Courses
