Josh hada troubled childhood and teens. Taken away fromhis biological mother at 7 he went to an abusive foster home where he spent 8 1/2 years of his life. This time ruined him for a while. He ran andlived on the streets until his adoptive family, the Kenzles, tookhim in. He struggled for a while but found firm ground in their home. He graduated at 17, a year early (and wasadopted the same year). He wizzed right through college and raduated top of his class in only 3 years. He vowed to help teens like himself. Horizon is his first Job.

To help kids/teens that are like he was and have come from situations like he did. And to generally make the world a better place.

Her Story-
Yes, I did I got pregnant at 16 and I have a beautiful blonde haired blued duaghter named Maxine. I decided to teach sex ed. to keep teens from getting
where I am. Though I do have a college degree it was hard and no matter how much I love my kid. I wouldn't want anyone else in this position. I got pregnant by a rape from my abusive boyfriend. I took therapy to get over it, but sometimes I do have nightmares and I'm still scared of commitment and guys. And I was born in France!
How long has she been there-

What she hopes to acomplish
I hope to keep teens out of the postition that I'm in and tell them that even though kids are great they still need to wait. And my time spent here is worth it if I can reach just one teen and keep them from my mistake of trusting a bad guy, and to let them know that your heart can always judge better than your eyes or your head.

Her story
I personally did not have a life like a horizon student. But I had a sister that went through abuse,mutilation, and bulemia. She died at the age of 17. I'm still trying to get over it. She died a year ago. I live by the quote" It's better to be hated for who you are, then loved for who you aren't". She doesn't want to be fake, because her sister hid everything behind a smile. We only found about the abuse through her otupsy.

Her story
I really have had a lot of life experiance at a early age. At 15 I was abused by my dad and his "girlfriend of the month" whenever I didnt make a A or
higher on a paper or reportcard. At 17 I met the love of my life. His name is Hayden, we were in love, but he already had a wife and step-daughters. He left after i told him that i was going to have his child. He told me that i was stupid young girl and i was trying to break up his marriage. I then a few weeks later experiance a miscarriage. I went into a DEEP depression. A year later a guy from my parents church asked me if I wanted to go on a round mission trip. I said yes. We went to Mexico and France(everywhere). Instead of going back with the group to the US I stayed and traveled througout France and then Mexico. I did this for 5 years and then I went to a middle school to teach.
They kicked me out b/c of my past! I then found my way to horizon
She hopes to-
To teach kids what you do in the past stays there forever in your mind,
but if you choose the right path in the future you can make up for that.

Her story-
I was the wife of an Air Force pilot, he served for 10 years beore his plane crashed in the South Atlantic. I loved him very much and when he died I became very secluded from the rest of the world. I threw myself into my art, it was the only thing that kept me sane when everything i hade loved had been lost. I heard about Horizon at a self help group, they were looking for an art teacher and I applied. I have been at Horizon ever since.
She hopes to-
Show the students here that they can find something happy out of anything. If not for the loss of my husband I would never have rekindled my love for art and would not be teaching at this school, one that I love. I want to teach them to be passionate about something they love to do.

Why she's here-
I come from a family who was always involved in the community. They always said the more you have the more you are expected to give back. My partents showed so much love and sacrifice to give my brother, sister, and I a good childhood. And we were always taught that there are people out there that need help because they don't have lives like we do. That is why I came to Horizon, I came here after being a teacher in an inner city school for about 8 years. This place seamed like a dream come true. The campus was beautiful and their mission just like mine. And so i stayed

I hope to give back all thats been given to me. I've lived a life kids here only dreamed about. And for that I am extremely greatful.

Her story-
I came to horizon almost a year ago. I had just gotten out of a 10 year marrage to a man who abused and beat me. I knew when I got pregnant with my child, and then miscarried because of one of his beatings that I had to escape. I stayed with my mother for a while, recovering before I came here. I had gotten a degree in teaching and this seamed like a place in which I could teach and heal at the same time.
She hopes to
Show these teens that if they are abused that it is not there fault. I stayed so long because I thought It was my fault. I now Know that it wasn't. I hope I can teach them that along with science.

His story-
I've spent most of my life searching for the job that I would love. The one I could wake up each day and can't wait to arrive to. And I've found that at Horizon. I love teaching here, and though it can be hard it is the most rewarding job, next to parenting, that I can think of. I get to teach what I love to students I care about. And it's the best job I have ever had.
He hopes to-
Live each day like it could be my last. Many might call me esentric but I say I am high on life. If I can give that spirit to my students, make them be glad to wake up and go to class each day, then I have completed my job

His story-
I just arrived at Horizon. My friend Josh told me I should come. My wife Maryanne and daughter Emma died in a car crash 6 months ago. It seamed like my world was tumbling down. I was ready to commit suicide when Josh called me. He said they needed teachers here. That call saved my life. Though the pain is still very unbearable, I hope this will give me a reason to live now that Mary and Emma are gone.

Numb my own pain. I came here because they needed my help. I want to try and be the best teacher I can, though I don't know how well i will really do.

His Story-
I was one of those men that got stuck with the computer jobs when computers became big. I started my own company and we made alot of money, alowing me to retire by the time I was 35. I decided that i needed something else in my life other than money. So I decided after sitting around for 2 years to go to Horizon to teach. Peter had been one of my competators when i was in the business. Maybe my money and my knowledge of Enlish Literature would come in handy at Horizon. So I came and have been there every since.

Help Horizon out both financially and with my teaching. These students have helped me loose the self centeredness I once had and become a better person.

His story-
I was just out of college, after being a student of music at one of the best fine art schools in the nation I decided I wanted to teach music. So I was looking for jobs all over the country. Horizon contacted me saying they needed a temp for the rest of the school year because their former teacher had left do to familial problems. I came and have been here ever since.
He Hopes to-
Music has always been something I was passionate about and I hope to show my students to have something they love very much, And maybe this is it.
