Skiteater #3 (USA)

This issue Cath interviews, Mordulv, Swordmaster, Altar of Perversion, Bestial Mockery, Unholy Archangel, Varathron, Krabathor, Obtest, Suicidal Winds, Deranged, Krankheit der Jugend and Kratornas. My only complaints being the stupid fascist attitudes of Bestial Mockery and the haters of punks Altar of Perversion. Besides that, this is a very good read, Cath goes way past the normal boring interview questions and even has a part of a dark ritual in one. This zine is recommended to everyone, but mainly I would encourage those who know little or next to nothing about black metal to get this now... Great resource guide..

Eternal Fire #3 (FRA)

Leather n' Spikes #4 is still brutal and sick, supporting the raw parts of the scene. UG layout, which means rather chaotic, but definitely enjoyable. The inties as well as the (few) reviews also have this crude feeling. So, celebrate the ugly Metal cult with Kratornas, Unholy Archangel, Suicidal Winds, Varathron, Altar of Perversion, Krabathor, Bestial Mockery, Mordulv... Also included are some reports, games (?), and an article about Celtic Frost / Hellhammer.

Slayer #14 (NOR)

Another favourite from the last issue 'zine review. This vol. 4 keeps up the great underground ethics of the last issue. That means totally underground layout, cut and paste and so on. Fucking great. Interviews with bands like Swordmaster, Varathron, Bestial Mockery and a bunch of others. Plenty of reviews, quotes and other things of interest for the people in the depths of the underground. I advise you very much to get this.

Nightwalk #4 (HUN)

Cath is back with her next offering for the underground scene. This Canadian publication really holds the underground spirit, xeroxed, black and white publication on 34 pages. You can get here interviews with Mordulv, Swordmaster, Suicidal Winds, Deranged, Kratornas, Unholy Archangel, Altar of Perversion, etc. She has a good questioning style, do the questions could be more detailed or specific sometimes and the interviews a bit longer. You can  get here live reports which are quite interesting, reviews in a bit hectic way throughout the 'zine plus a metal crossword! Dedicated to the underground. 6,5 out of 10

This is late addition, but I just had to write something about this great zine. Leather n' Spikes has quickly grown to become one of my favorite zines right now, due to teenage editor Catherine's (who's metal knowledge far surpasses her age!) undying love for all things sick and psychotic. Yup, that's right, you won't find any romantic gothic metal here, folks. Cath likes her metal hard and fast, and isn't afraid to speak her mind about her opinions (which I respect in a person). In additon to killer, well-conducted interviews with BESTIAL MOCKERY, UNHOLY ARCHANGEL, SUICIDAL WINDS, SWORDMASTER, NIFELHEIM, THORNSPAWN, MAYHEM and more, you also get informative and thourough articles on HELLHAMMER / FROST (4) and VOIVOD (5), and even a metal crossword puzzle (which is very well researched; even I didn't get all the answers at once!)! Bottom line is, if you crave raw, kult metal, and a zine that reflects that (i.e. DIY style layout) you need this zine.Write Nuklear Cath TODAY.
