Northford Women's Club Delivers Holiday Food Baskets

The Northford Women's Club, through its Special Interests committee, is reaching out to a few needy families in our town during the holidays with generous food baskets filled with non-perishable and holiday side dishes, hams, and/or turkeys. This year, members Karin and Mary, who currently co-chair the Special Interests committee, are organizing and delivering the Holiday Food Baskets. With the help of Northford Women's Club members, the Club will provide gift baskets to several families during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter holidays. A highly organized process ensures that each basket has a variety of items. A month in advance, an announcement goes out to Club members for donations of non-perishable foods and baked goods. Karin and Mary also solicit hams and turkeys from Club members to add to the baskets. Just before a holiday, Karin and Mary shop for items to supplement donations for the food baskets, separate the items for each family, and deliver the baskets to club members to distribute to needy families on a confidential basis.

The Club will donate food baskets piled with food for several needy families on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. The committee collecting for the foodbaskets has a signup sheet for anyone interested in donating food items, such as canned foods, breads, pies, turkeys, and hams.
