JAMDANCE(RS)
For first time visitors who have NO CLUE as to what the heck JAMDANCERS are, no it's not some weird, funky electric slide type thing (although we did end up having a dance of our own [still don't know it, but I like watching it]).  What it is is an acronym for a group of friends that still exist (no matter how separated) in the wilds of the northeast U.S. and the world even!

Thanks to Alison, I now have some background story on our acronym. Not surprisingly, Matt Golub seems to have originated this idea.  According to her, the acronym was invented by Matt and arrived in her hands during the historical Tri-D Model Congress at Seaford (1993) in which the participants got snowed in (I'm still pissed that I was sick for this...mommy wouldn't let me out no matter how hard I begged).  The two of them were passing notes all day that day and one of the notes had the acronym with everyone's names written on them.  Mind you, the original originals were much more limited than what I have below, but I've included here the group as I knew it, when it was at its epoche (good word, eh?).  Anyway, here's how it breaks down:

I guess you could say that JAMDANCE(RS) were the semi-misfits of their grades.  We all weren't in with the in-crowds therefore we made our own group.   In many ways we were more like a club than we were a clique.  We had at least one party nearly every weekend.  We had infamous notebooks where people wrote stuff to each other, to the group...and got lots of people in trouble.  I think our favorite collective pasttime was getting ourselves into trouble by saying the "wrong" things or behaving in the "wrong" ways towards each other.

We played mix and match with our guys and gals.  We were in plays and most of us were in Model Congress.  We took lots of pictures and went to too many Sweet Sixteens (making all of us broke).  There was mystery and drama, love and hate, and excitement enough to keep us all interested in being there.

If there is one thing that I am most proud of, with respect to JAMDANCE(RS), it's that all of us are still in contact in some way.  While I don't talk to everyone on a normal basis, I always know that I can contact whoever I want to by way of the help of one of the others.  All except for one...and that's Matt Golub...I will be creating a page solely in his honor in the near future so keep a lookout.

So the group was corny...so they were dramatic...so they have their little tiffs and gossip etc....well dammit...that group was established 10 years ago, and I can still get in touch with them.  THAT IS WHAT I CALL FRIENDSHIP!
