2006

8/21 - Neil Sean’s Scoop from Sky.com: "Get ready for the return of eighties boy band New Kids On The Block. The old gang are planning a reunion of sorts. Danny Wood, who will star in MTV’s Totally Boyband in September, told me: "We are in talks about a 20th anniversary documentary and also have plans to remix and re-release our greatest hits. We’re not planning to reform, but may do a one-off TV concert as a thank you to fans. We’re all still the best of friends."
 

2007

10/11 - The Orlando Sentinel: "Citing a New Kids on the Block reunion as the reason, former VH1 star and New Kids on the Block lead singer Jordan Knight has cancelled his scheduled appearance as the featured Entertainer for the December 1st Now Snowing Nightly Concert in Celebration, Florida.  "We wish Jordan and the rest of the band great success with their comeback. We will be announcing our replacement entertainment for the December 1st concert date shortly. We continue to attract world renown entertainment and offer the finest free family-friendly concerts" says Michael Nunez, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Celebration Town Center."  The article disappears from the newspaper’s web site a few days later.

2008

1/19 - NKOTB.com goes blank.

1/21 - The new NKOTB.com debuts with a blank TV screen with a form for fans to fill out to receive information about future updates.  Danny posts a MySpace bulletin: "i have been in miami.......you will hear it from one of us if it ever happens...all rumors"

1/26 - People Magazine: "New Kids on the Block Stage Comeback" - "A well-placed source tells People exclusively that the New Kids on the Block are indeed getting back together."

1/27 - Yahoo puts the People Magazine story on its front page.

1/28 - NKOTB.com’s "Exclusive" video debuts, with a montage of New Kids moments from back in the day with the message: "They rose from the streets of Boston to become the biggest band in the world. They influenced a generation. They sold over 70 million albums and grossed more than one billion dollars. 5 Multiplatinum Albums. 10 Top 10 Singles. 5 Number One Singles
Then they walked away from it all... millions of fans around the world await their return. New Kids On The Block... Are You Ready"

1/29 - NKOTB.com adds "The Right Stuff" and "Tonight" music videos.

1/29 - The group’s former producer Maurice Starr posts on the NKOTBFANS.com MySpace: "looks like your going to have a lot of activity on your site soon! : )"

1/29 - TMZ publishes photos of the guys together in Atlanta on their way to Orlando, quoting sources saying they’re working on new music.

1/30 - Danny changes his tune on his MySpace: "Hi to all the New Kids On The Block fans, I wanted to clarify since my first post this morning regarding the NKOTB reunion. I loved being a part of the group, and have always thought "maybe someday we’ll get back together" – you just never know when your someday will come. I can guarantee all the fans that if this reunion were to happen, they would hear about it first on NKOTB.com."

1/30 - Hosts on "The View" say the group is getting back together and break out in song, singing Hangin’ Tough and do the New Kids dance.

2/3 - The New York Post reports that the group has been recording new material.

2/4 - Female First in the UK reports: ""They’ve been working with legendary music manager Irving Azoff. They have been going to a studio in Orlando and recording the album. It’s been going really well and it’s just about done. Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre and Jonathan Knight have been working in the studio together, but it is not known whether Jonathan’s brother Jordan or fifth member Danny Wood are involved in the comeback."

2/4 - Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood ask Joe and Donnie about the reunion at The Victorias Secret Super Bowl party.  Still no announcement.  The guys say the RUMORS are real... but  is the reunion for real? We’ll have to wait and see. But they say the response from fans has been big.

2/7 - LA Rag magazine quotes the group’s management: "Look, they’re hanging out, playing around in the studio and seeing what works. If it works. You should hear some of the stuff man it’s amazing. None of these guys have to do this, they’re set. They just love it."

2/8 - NKOTB.com sends its first email out with a montage of news reports of the reunion.  The video is called "Sizzle" and is put up at NKOTB.com.

3/25 - The nationally syndicated Kane radio show announces that "NKOTB will be having a summer tour, guaranteed. With a new CD."

3/26 - NBC announces a surprise reunion performance on May 16th with a "concert sure to bring back unforgettable tunes and dance moves."  The mystery band is said to be announced April 4th.

3/27 - The TV screen at NKOTB.com disappears and a new feature debuts where fans call and leave a voicemail, which is played on the site.  Fans from all over the world let the guys know... "we’re ready!"

3/28 - NKOTB.com goes back to the TV screen design, but 3 new videos featuring new interviews with the members of the group in the studio surface at MSN.  Jonathan talks specifically about being back!

3/31 - NKOTB.com emails fans to watch The Today Show April 4! People Magazine confirms the guys will be on the show. NKOTB.com is changed to a countdown to the show!

4/1 - The Boston Globe and Herald both report there will definitely be a tour.

4/4 - The Today Show announces the reunion concert.

5/13 - Retailers set the date for a Greatest Hits CD with bonus tracks.

5/16 - The Today Show reunion concert.
